On July 19, 2025, Manny Pacquiao, one of the most notable Philippine boxers, returned to boxing after 4 years of retirement to battle against WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena at age 46. The match ended in a controversial draw, as Pacquiao couldโ€™ve broken his record as the oldest fighter to win a welterweight world title. Despite this, supporters all across the Philippines beamed with pride seeing him back in the ring.

Many are saying he lost an opportunity, but his tied match could mean more appearances in the ring against younger and stronger opponents. Maybe for Pacquiao, this was just a warm-up to invite people back into his spotlight.

Witnessing the fight rekindled the triumphant memories that we thought were long behind us.
The flow of time has limited us to simply reminisce on how his matches in the past tied every Filipino to their tv screens together, leaving us to crave for the same unity his victories and skill in the ring gave us back then. But with this match, Pacquiao shone just as he did before, even now against a 30-year-old opponent at his best, which proved to us that he hasnโ€™t lost his touch. All in all, with every punch he took and hit, his presence in the ring made us all root for him once more, keeping our Pinoy pride alive.

Like our very own Pacman, may we be inspired to defy limits and challenge ourselves no matter the circumstance, not just for us, but for those who believe in us, too. Adelante!

Earlier today, July 17, 2025, the class, club, GSP, BSP, and CAT-1 officers of the Junior High School (JHS) Department gathered in the Auditorium to take part in the Leadership Training Seminar conducted by the Student Development & Placement Center (SDPC).

The program kicked off with a welcome and rationale delivered by Mr. Nahum L. Jayme, Counseling Psychologist for Boys. This was followed by the presentation of participants, led by Althea Isabelle Lastimosa, the Vice President of the JHS SSLG.

The program highlighted the series of talks by guest speakers including Ms. Mary Ann Benerao, RGC; Mr. Ryan Reyes, LPT; Mrs. Melanie Gonzalez, LPT; and Mr. James Francis Aguas, LPT. Each enlightening the student leaders of their true roles.

Our voices have the power to make a difference, whether we hold a position or not. Let us continue to emulate our core values and stand as role models to one another. Today, July 16, 2025, we celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, a title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary as the patroness of the Carmelite Order.

Mount Carmel was a place of prayer for early Christian hermits under Maryโ€™s care. In 1251, she appeared to St. Simon Stock and gave him the Brown Scapular as a sign of her protection for those who wear it with faith. Our Lady of Mt. Carmelโ€™s image continues to remind us of Maryโ€™s undying guidance and motherly protection, especially during our darkest moments.

As one Josenian family, may we honor the image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with hearts full of trust and devotion.

The University of San Jose - Recoletos (USJ-R) Junior High School (JHS) Department is currently gathered at the Basak Coliseum for the official launch of the Anti-Bullying and Safe Space Campaign. This campaign aims to help our Josenians with their interpersonal behaviour by teaching them to assess themselves and others with the theme: โ€œKind is The New Brave, The Josenian Stand Against Bullying.โ€

The guest speaker, Dr. Maria Antonette G. Dandan, the Chairman of the Center for Religious Education, speaks and acts with compassion as she actively involves the students during her discussion.
