A child’s future begins long before entering elementary school. Recognizing the importance of the first six years of life, the Cebu City Government has invested in a citywide training program aimed at improving the quality of early childhood education in its Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) (used to be daycare) centers.

For School Year 2026-2027, Cebu City partnered with Children’s Paradise Montessori School (CPMS) to provide Montessori training to all 263 ECCD teachers serving in barangay ECCD centers.

A Taste of Home at Golden Prince's Kabilin Heritage Lounge

By: Robby M. Alugar

There are certain flavors that instantly transport us back to cherished memories—afternoons spent with family, conversations over steaming cups of coffee, and tables filled with familiar Filipino delicacies. Recently, I found myself reliving those moments during a visit to the Kabilin Heritage Lounge at Golden Prince Hotel & Suites.

Their Merienda Buffet is more than just an afternoon spread; it's a celebration of Filipino heritage served one plate at a time. From classic merienda favorites to traditional delicacies that many of us grew up enjoying, every dish seemed to tell a story of culture, family, and home.

What I appreciated most was the comforting atmosphere. The lounge perfectly complements the dining experience, creating a warm and inviting space where guests can slow down and savor each bite. In today's fast-paced world, finding moments like these feels increasingly special.

At Php 500 per person, the buffet offers excellent value, especially considering the variety of dishes available. Senior citizens can enjoy a 50% discount, while those who reserve early can take advantage of a 20% discount, making the experience even more rewarding.

Available from Monday to Friday, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, the Merienda Buffet is an ideal excuse to gather with friends, spend quality time with family, or simply treat yourself to an afternoon of comfort food and relaxation.

For me, the experience was a reminder that food is not only about satisfying hunger. It is about preserving traditions, creating memories, and celebrating the flavors that connect us to our roots. If you're looking for a meaningful culinary experience that showcases Filipino heritage, the Kabilin Heritage Lounge deserves a place on your list.

After all, some of life's best moments happen over a shared meal—and this merienda spread is one worth remembering.

CCCI Opens Cebu Business Month 2026 with Call for Investment-Led Growth

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) officially launched the Investment and Entrepreneurship Summit, the first major event of Cebu Business Month 2026, with a call for stronger collaboration to position Cebu as a leading investment and innovation hub.

In his opening remarks, CCCI President Regan Rex King emphasized the need for Cebu to move beyond adapting to global economic changes and instead take a leadership role in shaping its future. He highlighted the province's strategic location, entrepreneurial culture, and growing attractiveness to investors as key advantages in an increasingly competitive global landscape.

King stressed that investment must be inclusive and entrepreneurship must be supported to ensure sustainable economic growth. He underscored the importance of transforming ideas into investments, fostering partnerships, and creating opportunities that generate jobs and improve livelihoods.

King also reiterated CCCI's "LEAD A-MUST with IMPACT" agenda, which focuses on promoting Cebu as a premier investment destination, strengthening partnerships, developing talent, and ensuring that economic growth benefits communities across the province.

Calling for collective action among government, business, academe, entrepreneurs, and investors, King urged stakeholders to work together in building a resilient, competitive, and future-ready Cebu.

CBM 2026 Overall Chairman Bryan Yap highlighted the need for Cebu to adapt to changes driven by technology, investment trends, and global competition. He described CBM 2026 as a series of four interconnected summits designed to address investment, innovation, tourism, and design as key drivers of the region's growth.

Yap emphasized that investment and entrepreneurship are crucial indicators of confidence in Cebu's future, urging stakeholders to actively participate in shaping the province's economic direction. He also encouraged delegates to engage in all four CBM summits to gain a complete understanding of Cebu's development agenda.

The summit marks the opening of Cebu Business Month 2026, a series of forums and events aimed at driving investment, innovation, and economic development in the region.

STATEMENT OF SENATOR FRANCIS ‘CHIZ’G. ESCUDERO
JUNE 03, 2026

The current impasse in the Senate is untenable and unacceptable.

When political divisions become too extreme and obstruct our mandate, we must all have the courage to pause, gain perspective, reflect, consider and realize that we should put the Senate, as the institution that we serve, above ourselves.

This is not a political contest. I am not taking sides. I am taking a stand for the Senate. My allegiance is not to any faction, personality, group or alliance. This is not about loyalty, betrayal, or choosing one group over the other—this is about duty.

Hindi ito usaping pampulitika. Wala akong sinasamahan o iniiwanang grupo, pangkat o paksyon.
