Cancer Survivors Grace the Runway at FIDA’s “Gayak 2025” Fashion Show

Strength, style, and solidarity came together in a powerful showcase as cancer survivors affiliated with the ICanServe Foundation modeled custom designs at “Gayak 2025”, the graduation fashion show of the Fashion Institute of Design and Arts (FIDA). The event was held on October 11 at the North Wing Atrium of SM City Cebu, as part of the city’s Pink October celebration.

The runway segment featured cancer warriors wearing one-of-a-kind pieces crafted by FIDA’s esteemed mentors, offering a poignant tribute to courage, beauty, and resilience. The segment was one of the highlights of Pink October, a campaign focused on breast cancer awareness and support.

Following this inspiring presentation, FIDA’s graduating students—Danika Cinco, Willrose Beryawel, Bvngsumaoy, Miss Yian, and Sadjiah—unveiled their final collections. Each collection drew inspiration from the iconic design language of Cebu’s world-class resorts and hotels.

Among the graduates, Sadjiah was honored with the title of “Best Designer”, while Mel Maria was recognized as “Best Mentor” for her outstanding guidance and contribution to the student designers’ success.

The event also paid tribute to the late Edwin Alba, one of FIDA’s respected mentors, whose legacy continues to influence and inspire the school’s creative community. Additionally, collections from several FIDA alumni were featured, demonstrating the institution’s continued impact on the local fashion landscape.

“Gayak 2025” not only celebrated emerging fashion talent but also honored the strength of women who continue to rise above adversity—with fashion serving as a vibrant medium for empowerment and expression.

Prime Infra Foundation and Prime Waste Solutions (PWS) Cebu joined efforts to bring aid to 2,000 households affected by the recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu.

On October 6, distribution of relief goods containing ready-to-eat food packs, noodles, and canned goods as well as drinking water were carried out across three barangays in the municipality of San Remigio.

The relief efforts covered 815 households in Barangay Luyang, 755 households in Barangay Victoria, and 430 households in Barangay Kinawahan.

In a strong show of support for earthquake-stricken communities, Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro has released a total of ₱158 million in financial assistance to 12 local government units (LGUs) in northern Cebu that were heavily affected by the recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake.

The aid was officially distributed last October 10, 2025, during a check turnover held outside the Governor’s entrance at the Capitol, following a precautionary evacuation prompted by the magnitude 7.6 earthquake in Davao Oriental, which was also felt in Cebu.

“Colors of Hope: An Exhibit for a Cause” Opens at SM Seaside City Cebu

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro officially convened the Kumbati Cebu Task Force, also known as the Provincial Rehabilitation and Recovery Council (PRRC), on Friday, October 10, to lead and coordinate all post-earthquake rehabilitation and recovery initiatives in the province.
