CHECKMATE!
The defense counsel for VP Sara, Atty. Mark Vinluan, sought to challenge the testimony of NBI Director Melvin Matibag during the impeachment trial.
About two months ago, a video of Matibag confronting Mel Sabio circulated on social media. During cross-examination, Atty. Vinluan asked whether the incident reflected an emotional outburst on his part. Matibag answered, “Yes,” explaining that his remarks were driven by a combination of “anger” and “disappointment.”
In that video, Matibag said:
“I-report mo. Dahil pag pinatay kita, walang ebidensya. Putangina ka! Putangina ka!”
If Matibag himself characterizes those remarks as an emotional outburst rather than a grave threat, then why does he consider VP Sara’s statement to constitute a grave threat?
