GIANT Laundry Services & Alterations Opens at Waterfront Cebu City, Bringing Manila-Level Premium Garment Care to Cebu

Cebu City — Cebuanos no longer need to send their designer pieces, delicate fabrics, or expensive wardrobe essentials all the way to Manila just to receive high-quality garment care. GIANT Laundry Services & Alterations officially opened on December 12, 2025, at the Lower Level of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, introducing Cebu’s first premium, one-stop shop offering dry cleaning, wet cleaning, expert alterations, bag and shoe care, and industrial laundry services under one roof.

According to the owners, the idea for GIANT came from years of shared frustration: most local shops could not provide the specialized care required for luxury fabrics, designer gowns, event wear, and high-value bags and shoes. “We kept wondering why our friends were always sending their clothes to Manila—why did they have to go that far just to get proper dry cleaning?” shared one of the partners. “So we visited a top shop in Manila, and we were amazed. From then on, we knew Cebu deserved the same level of professional service.”

This vision led to the birth of GIANT, a name inspired by their commitment to big standards, big precision, big cleanliness, and big customer care. Before opening, the team invested heavily in state-of-the-art technology, attended specialized seminars, and trained their staff to ensure world-class garment handling. “Our promise is simple: treat every item with respect, and every customer like family.”

Strategically located at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino, GIANT aims to support not only residents but also hotel guests, event attendees, tourists, and busy professionals who often require urgent or delicate garment services. “Waterfront is still Cebu’s premier destination for global delegates, weddings, and major events. Being here is both an honor and a responsibility,” the team shared. “Guests can simply step out of their room, drop off their gown or suit, and trust that it will be cleaned or altered with care.”

What sets GIANT apart is its eco-friendly dry-cleaning system, which eliminates harsh chemicals traditionally associated with older dry-cleaning methods. Their facility uses advanced machines safe for handlers, customers, and premium fabrics. They also offer precision stain removal, including for sequins, velvet, lace, leather, suede, rust stains, and cosmetic stains—services typically only available in Manila.

Beyond garment care, GIANT also specializes in bag and shoe cleaning, restoration, and sneaker care, equipped with Italian technology that delivers high-end results. Customers can avail themselves of services such as whitening restoration, deodorizing, deep cleansing, and sole repair.

They also offer industrial laundry solutions designed for hotels, spas, caterers, and other businesses that require consistent, high-volume garment and linen care. With specialized equipment and trained staff, the team ensures that towels, linens, robes, uniforms, and other commercial items are cleaned, sanitized, and finished to professional standards. This additional service reinforces GIANT’s commitment to supporting Cebu’s hospitality and wellness industries with reliable, efficient, and high-quality care.

GIANT also accommodates specialty cleaning needs that are rarely serviced by traditional laundry shops. The shop accepts mascots, stuffed toys, and even motorcycle and bike helmets for thorough cleaning and sanitation. These services reflect GIANT’s goal of becoming a true one-stop care destination—capable of handling everything from designer clothing to unique lifestyle and commercial items.

To celebrate its grand opening, GIANT is offering 10% off on dry cleaning and free gifts for the first 50 customers, a gesture of gratitude for the warm reception from Cebu’s community.

“As we raise our glasses today, we celebrate new beginnings, meaningful partnerships, and our commitment to quality service,” the owners declared. “May GIANT continue to serve with integrity, grow with purpose, and make everyday life a little easier for Cebu.”

For inquiries and bookings, customers can reach GIANT at (0956) 390 6600.

Bethel General Insurance and Surety Corporation has released more than ₱12 million in payouts to policyholders whose vehicles were declared total losses after Typhoon Tino. The Cebu regional office processed the first claims, with additional releases scheduled in the coming weeks.

Floodwaters rose unexpectedly in many areas, submerging cars past dashboard level. At that point, repairs are no longer practical. “Once water reaches the dashboard, the engine and systems are compromised. Repair costs exceed the car’s value,” said Regional Head Jecelyn Casquejo.

A resident in Consolacion town recalled crying as her nearly paid-off car was towed away. “I did not expect floodwaters to rise so high,” she said. Having insurance allowed her to recover its value. Friends without coverage, she added, “sold severely damaged vehicles at rock-bottom prices—one pick-up for as low as ₱20,000.” The experience also prompted her to consider insuring her home, which also sustained flood damage.

A housewife in Pit-os, Talamban said she felt relieved having renewed comprehensive insurance just weeks before the typhoon. When their motorcar insurance expired in July this year, they wanted to avail of the compulsory third-party liability (CTPL) to reduce costs, she explained. But after the September 30 earthquake, she decided to reinstate full coverage—a decision that proved timely.

Another policyholder from Liloan, whose home sits beside a river, said floodwaters rose rapidly and submerged both their car and the ground floor of their house. He only salvaged two appliances. Since the family car was insured the vehicle for loss or damage, Bethel General Insurance released a check equivalent to fair market value.

Casquejo had spoken to the Talisay Chamber of Commerce a few days before the typhoon, sharing lessons from Typhoon Yolanda. “During Yolanda, I was processing claims,” she recalled. “I had clients who chose CTPL only or lower coverage to save money. But those who had full coverage recovered fast. They rebuilt their businesses or ordered new vehicles.”

She emphasized the role of insurance in recovery: “You can build a business over many years and lose it in just a wink of an eye. (The) insurance (sector) may be very small because there are only a few players, but we are the backbone of the economy. Without insurance, many businesses collapse after disasters. With it, they can recover right away.”

Licensed by the Insurance Commission, Bethel offers motor, fire, property, marine, casualty, engineering insurance, and bonds. The company, marking its 65th anniversary next April, started its Cebu presence in 2017 and now operates five branches across the province.

For Casquejo, the contrast between insured and uninsured losses remains stark. “I always encourage people to learn from experience,” she said. “But you don’t want that experience to be your own business collapsing. Learn from what happened to others.”

In the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, Bethel’s swift payouts highlight insurance as a vital force—helping households and businesses absorb shocks, recover faster, and rebuild with confidence.
