There is a quiet, melancholic humor in opening a box to find two pickleball paddles, knowing full well that only one hand will be holding one today.

A silent bet that somewhere down the line, a friend, a partner, or a willing stranger will stand on the other side of the net.

​Holding a single paddle while the other remains untouched feels like showing up to a conversation alone. It highlights the solitude of an activity meant for two, turning a simple game into a quiet reminder of distance, busy schedules, or missing company.

And in that moment, that is how I met loneliness.

In life you will always find people who just don't like you for whatever reason, valid or imagined or twisted.

If they can't find fault, they'll create one. If you make a mistake, they'll make a mountain out of it.

Some are presumido. Others are echo chambers. Others are envious. Others just have a bad streak in them.

You'll see it in their body language, or their impertinence, or their furtive glances, or their silence / avoidance, or the sneer on their faces.

And you wonder, why are they like that? If they have any issue, why not raise it to you while giving you the benefit of the doubt? Is it their basic education? Flawed character? Bitter experience in life? Insecurity?

Whatever it is, pray for their healing.
