Filipino VAs, Aspiring VAs, Digital Marketers—This Needs to Be Said!
STOP doing free labor in the name of “TRIAL TASK”!
Yes, I’m talking about those “simple tasks” that aren’t simple at all.
→ “Can you just review our website and tell us what’s missing?”
→ “Create a sample proposal so we can see if you’re a good fit.”
→ “We’ll reach out after we’ve reviewed all submissions.” (They never do.)
Sound familiar?
It’s happened to me multiple times.
And each time, I gave it my best (strategy, design, research), only to be ghosted. No feedback. No updates. Just silence.
It’s draining. It’s disheartening. And honestly, IT'S NOT OKAY!
These clients aren’t looking for talent; they’re fishing for free ideas.
Boosting their business off the backs of hardworking Filipino VAs, hoping we won’t speak up.
But I will. Because this isn’t about one client.
It’s about self-respect in a digital world that sometimes forgets we’re human beings, not just usernames on a platform.
To my fellow Filipinos and VA warriors:
You are not “just a VA.”
You are a strategist. A creator. A builder of online empires.
Your skills deserve to be seen, valued, and paid for.
Stop jumping through hoops for clients who wouldn’t jump for you.
Know your niche. Know your strength.
And most importantly: Know your worth.
