This is the famous line of many maritime students every morning. They wake up before sunrise, prepare their uniform, and leave home with confidence, thinking they have plenty of time before class starts. Everything seems perfectโuntil they meet the true captain of the road: traffic.
As soon as the student boards a jeepney, the journey becomes an adventure. โPara! Para! Para!โ can be heard every few minutes as passengers get on and off. The jeep stops almost everywhere, and what was supposed to be a quick trip slowly turns into a long voyage. The student keeps checking the time, hoping the traffic will magically disappear. Unfortunately, traffic in Cebu has its own plans.
After what feels like forever, a message suddenly appears on the phone: โBro, asa naka?โ That simple question can instantly raise a student's blood pressure. Panic starts to kick in. The student quickly replies with an excuse while staring out the window, wishing the jeep could transform into a speedboat. Sadly, even future seafarers cannot sail through traffic.
Two hours later, the student finally arrives at school. The instructor is already in class, lessons have started, and everyone is seated. Standing outside the classroom, the student can only think, โKanus-a man ko makaabot ani oy?โ It is both frustrating and funny because despite leaving home so early, they still end up late.
This comic reflects the reality of many maritime students. It shows their dedication, patience, and determination to pursue their education despite daily challenges. While traffic may test their endurance, they continue moving forward because they know every sacrifice brings them closer to their dream of becoming successful maritime professionals.
