LOOK: 12-YEAR-OLD AUTHOR LAUNCHES HER FIRST FANTASY BOOK

A 12-year-old Cebuana, Isabella Ramones Geraldizo, officially launched her first fantasy book titled “Classmania: Dragon War” on Sunday, July 27, 2025. What started as a simple story in a group chat has now become a published book.

Isa's book tackles the story of Felix, a boy who was first written as a thief but later became the adoptive Prince of Migtonia. His journey shows how he changed from a regular kid with a troubled past into someone admired by many. Along with him is his friend Stella, who also experiences her own big transformation. The story carries a message of hope, self-belief, and faith in God—showing that anyone can rise above struggles and become someone great.

Isa shared that her book was inspired by her own experiences of dedication, faith, and believing in herself.

"Look at me! I’m only twelve, and yet I’ve already become an author," she said.

"To all the little children out there who aspire to become something that seems impossible, I encourage you to ask God if it’s the right thing, and if it is, chase that dream like your life depends on it," she added.

Her parents, Rendon and Percy Geraldizo, who are both public speakers, said Isa has loved reading and writing since she was little. She used to make her own small books using stapled bond paper, complete with drawings and dialogue.

"As parents, we've always believed in nurturing our children's God-given talents and potentials," Rendon said.

"When Isa expressed her passion for writing, we wholeheartedly supported her, and her book became a testament to her homeschooling journey," he added.

Now starting Grade 7, Isa continues to write, with her parents fully supporting her passion.

NEWS UPDATE: Senate President Chiz Escudero announced that he will file a bill prohibiting relatives of government officials from becoming contractors or suppliers for government projects.

Escudero explained that the proposed ban would cover relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and affinity.

He emphasized the clear conflict of interest when relatives of lawmakers or officials benefit from government contracts.

The Senate President said the measure is in response to President B**gbong Marcos' recent SONA remarks about corruption, particularly involving failed flood control projects.

Escudero also addressed allegations of budget insertions involving billions of pesos, firmly denying any involvement.

OPINION: The spectacle of a boxing match

I was surprised on Sunday morning that the boxing match between PNP Chief Nicolas Torre and acting Davao City Mayor Sebastian Duterte pushed through. The venue was filled with spectators, eagerly cheering on the undercards and the round ladies who were circling the ring at the end of the last second. Then came the main event that led to an undefeated and undisputed win. What was once a remark made in jest during a podcast became a real-life sparring session. Of course, minus the opponent.

Apparently, the supposed contender of the nation's top cop flew to another country before the day of the match. Neither did he say that he accepted the challenge; instead, he redirected the conversation toward a drug test. However, for the person accepting the challenge, it was all systems go. He seemingly bypassed all other necessary permits and obligations for a fistfight. Regardless of technicalities, we have witnessed a spectacle unfold before us, and one that is likely difficult to forget.

Le Phyllis F. Antojado

CEBU, Philippines — Eight local government units in the Province of Cebu are now considered drug-cleared.

The first LGU that was declared as drug-cleared was Bogo City after its 29 barangays were cleared by the oversight committee last year.

This was followed by Pilar town after its 13 barangays were all declared as drug-cleared by the committee early this year.
