NURSING RACQUETEERS CHARGE INTO PENULTIMATE BADMINTON ROUND AFTER NEAR-FLAWLESS RUN

LOOK: After dropping only one match in the preliminaries, the College of Nursing storms into the semifinal round during the Siglakas+ 2025 badminton tournament, posting a commanding 4-1 record to finish second in Bracket A behind the College of Medical Technology.

Following their semifinal-clinching win, Team Captain Christine Compuesto noted, “I feel grateful and overwhelmed—our hard work really paid off. We’re lucky and happy to have made the semis, and we’re aiming for the finals next.”

MEDTECH SHUTTLERS TOP BRACKET A, NET BADMINTON SEMIS SLOT

LOOK: Shuttlers from the College of Medical Technology cement their path to the semifinals with a dominant 5-0 campaign during the Siglakas+ 2025 men’s and women’s badminton doubles preliminary rounds at the University Coliseum.

Medical Technology players record the highest wins in Bracket A after notching victories over the College of Optometry (2-0), the College of Nursing (2-0), the College of Veterinary Medicine (2-1), SWUNext (2-0), and the School of Medicine (2-1).

“Pressured because for the past Siglakas, we’ve been to the semis and karun na mas pressured kay wala naman gud among star player so amo gyud gi boost among self na makaya gihapon namo na wala siya nya kami ra,” shared Chrislene De los Santos, one of the department’s players for women’s, after the games.

PHARMACY SMASHERS EARN BADMINTON FINAL FOUR SEAT AFTER SOLO SLIP TO DENTISTRY

LOOK: Shrugging off a lone loss to the College of Dentistry in Bracket B, the College of Pharmacy clinches a semifinal spot after a 4-1 finish during the Siglakas+ 2025 badminton tournament preliminary rounds at the University Coliseum.

In a post-match interview, Team Captain Ada Devero said, “Nachallenge mi sa among dula. Dapat mi mu strive harder sa among trainings, para ma defend namo among championship."

DENT REMAINS UNBEATEN, CRUISES TO BADMINTON SEMIS WITH 5-0 RUN

LOOK: Fueled by determination and perfection, the College of Dentistry sweeps all five games in men's and women’s division during the Siglakas+ 2025 Bracket B badminton doubles preliminary rounds at the University Coliseum.

Dentistry shuttlers cruised to a flawless run, tallying straight victories against the College of Pre-Medicine, the College of Radiologic Technology, the College of Pharmacy, the College of Rehabilitative Sciences, and Senior High School.

Following their remarkable preliminaries, Dentistry Team Captain Jed B. Gramata reflected, “Our standing is a testament to the hard work and dedication everyone on the team has put in. We're focused on preparing for the upcoming semifinals and hope to finish stronger than we did last season.”

PHINMA, in partnership with various socio-civic organizations, student groups, and universities across Cebu City, will host “From Jetski to Reality: A West Philippine Sea Forum” on September 19, 2025, at 9 AM through a Zoom webinar live at the PHINMA Aznar Coliseum.

This forum will feature Prof. Cielo Magno, former Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, and Ms. Heidi Mendoza as resource speakers, with selected student leaders and personalities serving as reactors to drive the discussion.

The event aims to deepen understanding of the West Philippine Sea dispute by explaining its relevance to the Philippines, the role of international law and the 2016 arbitration case, and inspiring the audience to take action in defending national sovereignty.
