Our Story

Inews.ph was created when a group of friends from different media outlets accidentally had coffee and discussed the sad state of the local media and the dying printed news.

The print media in Cebu recently have experienced declining subscription, news stand sales and advertising revenues making it difficult to remain profitable. Hence, all 3 local dailies had to let go some of their employees and one local daily went 100% digital and published their last printed issue on December 31, 2018.

With this sad news, the group decided to turn it into a regular coffee afternoon meet up with the goal of giving birth to a digitized news organization.

The group believed that digital convergence holds the potential of replacing the printed newspaper.
