“Journey to our success needs time and patience”
My 10-Year Journey 🙏💯 (Long post ahead)
Growing up, I was always unsure of what I wanted to be. Like literal na “bahala na” hahahaha “. After high school, My dad told us that company that he worked with would be closing its door due to financial difficulties. He was only on in his early 50s that time and retirement wasn’t even on his plan yet. Pero nag early retirement erpats ko para may makuha man lang sa companya. So he put up a small business like boarding house near my school, supplier of rags from different companies, several units of ATM or (Automatic tubig machine) that time malakas yun kasi wala pa masyadong ganun na business that time but suddenly lahat ng negosyo nya went bankrupt. So nakapag decide erpats ko na tigil muna ako sa pag aaral at yung bunsong kapatid ko nlng muna yung magpapatuloy. (Medyo pasaway din kasi tayo na anak 😂). But before my dad lost his job we had a comfortable life and we never lacked of anything. (Di kami mayaman pero hindi rin naghihirap, medyo nasa gitna lang 😁) . So ermats ko ay humingi ng tulong sa kapatid nya abroad kung pwede siya yung gagastos sa pagaaral ko. Approved naman pero after 2 years ay nag give up narin yung tito ko kasi di na raw nya kaya yung expenses. (Nag BSHRM ako for 2 years then stop na naman. Hehehe.)
“The Unexpected turn and the Downfall”
I was shocked when my parents told me that we need to move to a small apartment kasi di na daw nila kaya yung expenses. When i say small apartment literal na small talaga. Like kung ano yung tinutulugan namin dun narin kami kumakain 😔. (Kwarto lng talaga siya). That time i was so disappointed and blamed my parents kung bat ganun nangyare. But then one day, I realized that blaming my parents for our situation wasn't going to change anything. Instead, I decided to take our circumstances as a challenge. I vowed to work hard and create a better life for myself. Lesson na nakuha ko dito is We never know what’s around the corner. We must be prepared to adapt and adjust . Life is unpredictable 💯
“The Turning Point”
So year 2010, I decided to reach my uncle (my mom’s cousin) who is a manager sa BPI (Bank of the Philippine Islands) . I tried to asked him if there is any available job that he can offer to me. So fast forward nabigyan ako ng trabaho and i worked with them for 2 years as a Janitor. (See photo below 😁)
So, after 2 years bigla akong tinanong ng uncle ko kung gusto kong mag aral? 😳. So my uncle decided na mag working student ako. 8am to 5pm janitor sa bank then kuha ako subjects from 5:30 onwards hanggang saan may available. So he decided also na mag shift ako ng course from BSHRM to Banking and Finance. (Kasi gusto nya ipasok daw nya ako sa bank after kong grumaduate😂). So, fast forward natapos ko yung isang sem na walang bagsak. But prior mag start yung 2nd sem is kinausap nya ako kung kaya ba? So yun lipat na naman ako maritime and now i am a full time student na. So after 2 years ay naka graduate narin sa wakas that was year 2014 😂 ( Oh bat 2 years lng? So nag apply ako 2 years sa ibat ibang shipping companies pero di ako pinalad. So i decided to apply and work with BPO company. So after ko nakapag save ng kunting pera ay nag apply ako ulit sa mga shipping companies and this time sinwerte na ako at nakapasok sa isang domestic company (interisland). After kung mag interisland for 1 year ay nag exam ako (OICNW) at nung pumasa ako ay tinulungan ako ng isang tiyohin ko na makasampa international. (Year 2019) During my interview i was so lucky kasi yung company ng tito ko is merong cadetship program at nung nakita nila na may license ako ay binigyan ako ng chance na magiging parte ng cadetship program nila (kung maipasa ko yung set of exams) and naswertehan na naman at pumasa. (Dahil na din sa tulong ng iba 😂😂). After kung mag cadet ng 10months sa international ay binigyan ako ng malaking break ng companya (Dahil na rin sa mga mentor ko sa barko during my first international voyage). (Year 2021) Next vessel assignment ko ay sasampa ako as 3rd officer. 🎉🙏💯.
1. Turn adversity into opportunity , view challenges as chances to grow, learn, and become stronger. ( bangon kay pobre ta 😂)
2. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and will support you on your journey.
3. Turning your dreams into reality takes time, effort, and perseverance. Stay committed, believe in yourself, and never give up. ( Ayaw pag luya-luya diha 💯)
PS: Ten years may seem like a long time, but my journey shows that perfection takes time, effort, and dedication.
