In a single moment, everything we cling to on this earth—our homes, possessions, even comfort—can be taken away. Everything we own in this world—no matter how beautiful or valuable—can be taken in an instant. Floods in Texas, wildfires in California, and disasters across the world are painful reminders that nothing on this earth is permanent.Nature reminds us how fragile and fleeting material things truly are.
But God never allows loss without purpose. Sometimes, He gently strips away what we cling to so tightly, to remind us that our true security is not in riches, possessions, or comfort—but in Him alone.
God allows these moments not to punish, but to awaken us—to lead us back to what matters most: love, kindness, and compassion. The wealth of this world was never meant to be hoarded. There is more than enough for everyone, if only we choose to care more for people than for things.
So while we still have time, let’s give when we can. Share a smile. Lend a hand. Love genuinely. Because when everything else fades, these acts of grace will echo into eternity. Because in the end, only what we’ve done in love—will remain.
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…”
— Matthew 6:19–20 (NIV)
