If you're feeling hopeless, or abandoned, go to church anyway...

GO TO CHURCH ANYWAY
If you're having s*x before marriage, go to church anyway.
If you are a drug addict trying to beat addiction, go to church anyway.
If you were out drunk all night the night before, go to church anyway.
If you aren't sure what gender you prefer, go to church anyway.
If you can't quit that disgusting habit, go to church anyway.
CHURCH is a HOSPITAL for the BROKEN, LOST, EMPTY, CONFUSED, DESPERATE, and REJECTED.
Every sinner has a future, and every saint has a past.
How do we break the chains of addiction and bo***ge?
By prayer...
Prayer for you.
Prayer with you!
There isn't a single person in the 4 walls of the church that doesn't have something they hate or regret about their past.
We've all made mistakes and will continue to,
BUT His Grace is enough.
There are things that I'd never want to admit out loud about myself, but God knows.
And He loves me nonetheless.
So whatever you've done, whatever you're doing,
whatever you will do...
it might just change your life if...
YOU GO TO CHURCH ANYWAY.

Today a Holy Wednesday is also called "Spy Wednesday," because Judas Iscariot spied on Jesus for the Sanhedrin and betrayed him in exchange for 30 pieces of silver.

Throughout the years ever since the Church was shepherded by the successors of the apostles, it has been riddled with scandals. However, because the Church is the body of Christ, it cannot be destroyed by a few "Judases."

Today, our leaders call on us once more to never leave the Church that Jesus founded, for it is His body. According to Fr. Chris Alar, you don't leave Jesus just because of Judas. Let us remain in Christ no matter the pain we are going through because somebody betrayed us, or not matter how disappointed we are of some church leaders in our respective locality. They are not the center of our faith, it is Jesus himself.

He knows us by name for He is the Good Shepherd.

A baby is the most vulnerable person, yet God chose to enter into this form to assure us that we are never alone and that He will never leave us abandoned.

The King, in all His greatness and glory came as a small baby— human, to remind us that we do not walk alone. Allow Him to enter and remain in your heart today. Merry Christmas!

Reading about the parable of the vineyard workers, it really seems that God is unfair and biased. Who wouldn't get annoyed if you were in the shoes of those who labored the entire day, only to receive the same wage as those who have only worked for an hour?

But then again, who are we to complain, when the farm owner has clearly set out the terms before the workers received the job offer? As what is written in Matthew 20:1-6, it was all because of the farm owner's generosity. He only had one thing in mind and that is to complete what needs to be done in his vineyard before the day is through.

Some who serve at their respective churches and in different ministries might relate to this -- getting somewhat envious of some new servants that has fast become leaders in ministries. God can afford to distribute His graces and blessings so generously even to those who had just recently followed Him.

We can only imagine the gossip that went around when Saul the persecutor of Christians suddenly became a leader alongside Peter and the other apostles. Again, who are we to judge God's generosity?

There's a saying that generosity is not about the money or giving of a material thing, but it is about the heart that was willing to make a sacrifice in favor of the other person. It says in Isaiah 55:7 that God is generous in forgiving, and we know that God is love. Therefore, generosity can only come from love. We can only forgive if we are generous with our love for the other person who have hurt us, just as God has generously forgave us every single day because of His love for us.

The vineyard workers didn't see it as generosity, because they lacked the love for their co-workers and even also for the farm owner who gave them the opportunity for a living.

So, before grumbling, let's choose to be grateful for everything we have and have been kept away from us for our soul's sake, and choose to pay it forward with generosity, based on God's love for each one of us.

Forgiveness is a difficult word, and to even do it 7 times? Much more if you have to do it 77 times, which literally means countless times.

However, this is what Jesus told Peter in Matthew 18:21-35 when He answered Peter in his question of how many times he should forgive a brother or a sister who has done him wrong. Jesus even followed this up with a parable of the unforgiving servant. He then finished it up by saying: "This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart."

What a difficult thing to do, on a plain human level. But nothing is impossible with God. By the help of the Holy Spirit, we can turn to prayer. For by praying for those who wronged us and by forgiving them, we would also be forgiven, as stated in Sirach 27:30-28:2.

So, when we are enveloped with the cloud of anger and faced with the desire for revenge, we can either choose the red pill of chaos, pride, and vengeance, or the blue pill of peace, humility, and forgiveness. When we choose chaos, pride, and vengeance, we would have already made our own downfall and curse, but if we choose peace, humility, and forgiveness, we would have sealed our blessing.

So, choose to be on God's side. Follow Jesus. He won't let you down.

When someone offends us, it is very easy to choose anger and retaliation instead of kindness and forgiveness. In the face and heated moment of the offense and the pyre of hate it grows into when fueled by years of anger, it takes out all of one's strength when we choose to be kind and forgive, to the point that we feel like crying and asking why we should do it in the first place.

When we do have the opportunity to confront the person who offended us, it is also very easy to point all the blame on him/her, just so we can unload all the hurt and anger we have built up in our heart on that person.

If we are also on the offending end of the stick, we get eaten by our guilt and so we pretend to be on the right side by building our wall of pride.

What Jesus is telling us in this Gospel reading is so difficult to do. We can only try to pretend to be forgiving, or to ask for forgiveness if we are the offender, but without the real heart for it, we will continue to be gnawed by the negative feelings that robs our joy and positive attitude away.

Both situations make us outcasts, because we have boxed ourselves in, until we realize that we are alone in our box of pride.

The only good thing is that God searches for us no matter where we have strayed. He never abandons us. He treats us like Gentiles and outcasts. He would make sure to 'dine' with us just to win us back over to Him. And most importantly, to show us that He already bore our hurts and pains on the cross, we only need to truthfully say in our hearts what Jesus himself said on the cross: "Father, forgive them..."

"Whoever wishes to come after me, must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me."

With these words, Jesus has set one of the criteria to become His disciple. But what exactly did He mean by denying one's self? Do we just pretend to be someone we are not? Do we just disregard our own pursuits, our joys, and our dreams? Do we just set aside our own uniqueness?

The answer is a big NO. In fact, when a rich young man asked Jesus how he can enter heaven (Matthew 19:16-30), our Lord told him to keep the commandments, of which, one of these is to "love your neighbor as yourself." This only means that God wants us to love ourselves too, and not just the best part of ourself, but our entire being.

To deny ourself therefore is to be sensitive of the needs of others. Rather than just focusing on our own needs, let us strive to listen, care for, and help others who are more hurting, have more dire problems, than us. To deny ourself therefore is to bear the humiliation, embarassment, and inconvenience of being singled out, just because we are standing for Jesus and His gospel of truth and love.

Only then can we follow Jesus. Let it be our prayer for God to change our heart and make it like His heart, meek and gentle.
