REMULLA LEADS TURNOVER OF 50 UNIFIED 911 MOTORCYCLES TO BOOST PRO-8 TOURIST POLICE RESPONSE
Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla led the blessing and turnover of 50 Class 1 Unified 911 emergency response motorcycles to Police Regional Office-8 at Camp Ruperto Kangleon, Palo, Leyte on Aug. 11, 2026.
PRO-8 Regional Director Brigadier General Jason Capoy said the new units "will help Tourist Police Units respond faster and increase visibility in destinations across Eastern Visayas."
“More than providing mobility, these motorcycles will allow our personnel to be more visible and accessible to the public, particularly when immediate police assistance is needed," Capoy said.
The 50 motorcycles were distributed to Police Provincial Offices and City Police Offices in the region. Southern Leyte PPO received nine units. Leyte PPO and Tacloban City Police Office each got eight. Biliran PPO, Ormoc CPO, Samar PPO, Eastern Samar PPO and Northern Samar PPO each received five.
The units were formally received by provincial governors and city representatives.
Present were Leyte Gov. Carlos Jericho Petilla for LPPO; Vice Mayor Raymund Romualdez for TCPO; Southern Leyte Board Member Rolando Bacoy for SLPPO; Biliran DRRMO Sofronio Dacillo Jr. for BPPO; Vice Mayor Carmelo Locsin Jr. for OCPO; Samar Vice Gov. Arnold Tan for SPPO; Eastern Samar Gov. Ralph Vincent Evardone for ESPPO; and Northern Samar Board Member Engr. Lope Dorado Jr. for NSPPO.
During the visit, the DILG Eastern Visayas interfacing with the tri-bureau was also conducted, with Remulla's guidance.
PRO-8 presented a briefing on the impact of the Safer Cities Initiative on the region’s eight focus crimes, highlighting intensified police operations and strategic deployment of resources in crime-prone areas.
