My partner-in-crime/womxn crush allday errday, made this page for me back then. This is what she said:
"This man has got soul, class, style, and he's bad ass; his passions run deep in History and is extremely good at what he does. If he cannot be found in classes, he can be found hanging out and getting boba at Teabo, filming for his next video, working out at the arc, raiding his friends' kitchen and cooking for them, or singing along with his favorite artists in the shower. He's quite friendly and the well-rounded guy; keep an eye out for this little pink ball's next moves!"

BRB from table 3! 📸✨ Surrounded by three of the most beautiful people I know, inside and out. It’s truly been a pleasure working on Forgotten Island with two of the most talented artists of our time, Gabi (H.E.R.) and Liza! 💖 And our entire team took home the Trailblazer Award! 🏆

Best part of that night was celebrating it with my beloved Yee, who has been by my side since long before this project and through every step of it. She’s been capturing these memories since before there were cameras around, and she’s the one who makes sure I never miss a moment. Thank you for all of it. I love you. 🫶🏽

Yee’s favorite part of the evening? Taking selfies with H.E.R. and Liza. 😂

🇵🇭 The world’s longest Christmas? 🎄 And no, it’s not really because of the “ber months.” It’s not just marketing either. 👀

Our ancestors were celebrating this season long before Christianity ever reached our islands. So what exactly were they celebrating? That’s the part most of us were never taught.

Watching Forgotten Island Movie with the community is on another level! ✨

It was so heartwarming to be there amongst our people, hearing everyone laugh, cry, react to the cultural references, and enjoy the experience together.

Hearing the kids cracking up throughout the theater and seeing them still wide awake afterward made me especially happy. The whole night just felt joyful and like a family coming together in celebration of our culture on the big screen.

Yesterday reminded me that our stories live on when they’re told, shared, and uplifted. I’m incredibly grateful to Joel, Januel, Mark, and Anthony for bringing me on as part of the team and making this happen! 🙏🏽

People called me her "iki," her tail, because I followed her everywhere as a kid, from Pinatubo relief efforts to art competitions and community meetings, from breakfast with Philippine Presidents to lunch with trike drivers and tinapa vendors at home. She treated them all the same. Everyone thought I was just tagging along but I was learning what serving and uplifting our communities actually looks like.

Masayang Kayaldáwan ning Kékayung Kébaitan, Pákamálan kung Ápû! 💖

Happy 75th birthday Grandma! Love you so much and see you soon! 😘

🇵🇭 August is "Buwan ng Wika" (Language Month) in the Philippines, but for many Filipinos, speaking our own mother tongues came with a price.

I was fined ₱1 (one peso) for every Kapampangan word I spoke at school, right in the middle of the Kapampangan motherland. And it wasn't just me, and it wasn't just Kapampangan. In the 1930s, my Lola Fely was punished for speaking her mother tongues (Pangasinan and Tagalog). And over the years I've heard the same from others across the Philippines and across generations. Same fines, same punishments, different provinces, different mother tongues.

The Philippines has over 180 languages, and more than 30 are endangered right now, not because they're not good enough, but because we were taught they're not worth enough.

I've made several videos breaking down why our languages are dying and why they're not "just dialects" (🎥 link in bio/comments).

The House of the Dragon finale just dropped, but did you know that our ancestors had their own Game of Thrones?

This is the true story of Rája Ache, the exiled "Prince of Luzon" who met Magellan's survivors in 1521, then won a civil war, and ruled as Rája Matandâ, the "King of Luzon" for 50 years!

A king dies. His heir is deemed too young. The cousin no one was watching moves to seize the crown. So the young prince escapes and sails to his grandfather, the Sultan of Brunei, at the height of his empire, and comes back home with 200 warships to take back his stolen throne. No dragons. No script. This happened in the early 1500s, in the islands we now call the Philippines.

My favorite part, then and now:

"Just like your favorite Pancit, be it Bihon Guisado or Palabok, Filipino epic films are always full of nutritious and colorful ingredients. But these films have fallen short of attracting the taste buds of the west in the same manner that a cup of instant ramen noodle has invaded American college life. Since its inception, Hollywood has whitewashed our diverse and colorful history so it is only wise that asian filmmakers follow the same money-making recipe, right? Now that we have discovered Matt Damon, the missing salty ingredient, can Filipino movies finally tear down the great wall that hinders its success in the west? Can Matt Damon be the savior of Asian films?"

The Filipino film industry has struggled to make their historical movies more epic and commercially appealing in the eyes of the outside world. Many epic Filipino movies have fallen short of being ...
