Student leaders from NU Cebu participated in the Visayas Leg of CTRL+YOUTH: Shaping ASEANโ€™s Digital Future on May 30, 2026, at the DepEd Ecotech Center in Cebu City, contributing youth-driven insights on digital resilience, responsible innovation, and emerging technologies after the Philippinesโ€™ ASEAN 2026 Chairship.

Gathering youth leaders, advocates, and representatives from various organizations across the region, the CTRL+YOUTH Roadshow served as a platform for meaningful dialogue on the opportunities and challenges brought by the rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The initiative, spearheaded by Tayo ang Taya (TAYA) under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), aims to consolidate and elevate the perspectives of Filipino youth on digital governance, technological innovation, and ASEAN cooperation. Through a series of consultations conducted nationwide, the program seeks to ensure that the voices of young Filipinos are reflected in policy discussions and regional engagement efforts leading up to the Philippinesโ€™ chairship of ASEAN in 2026.

The Visayas consultation featured a DSWD ASEAN briefing, messages of support from national and international partners, and plenary discussions focusing on the responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, as well as digital resilience against misinformation, scams, and online harm.

Participants were later grouped into consultation circles and focused group discussions where they shared recommendations and grassroots perspectives on strengthening youth participation in digital governance and community development. These discussions culminated in group reports and the synthesis of key insights that will contribute to national consultation outputs.

Representing NU Cebu, the delegates actively engaged in conversations on leadership, innovation, and the role of young people in shaping a safer, more inclusive, and future-ready digital ASEAN.

The event highlighted the importance of empowering youth voices in governance and policy-making, reinforcing the idea that today's young leaders are key partners in building a digitally resilient and interconnected ASEAN community.

Through initiatives such as CTRL+YOUTH, student leaders continue to demonstrate that meaningful change begins when young people are given the opportunity to participate, collaborate, and lead.

The Bullโ€™s Eye concluded its inaugural year of operations through PAGTAPOS: Year-End General Assembly, held at Room 718 of NU Cebu on May 29. The formal gathering was presided over by Dnvr Cliedzray L. Gajete, the publicationโ€™s outgoing Editor-in-Chief, to officially close the chapter of Academic Year 2025โ€“2026.

The year-end assembly served as a venue to celebrate, reflect on, and acknowledge the publicationโ€™s milestone first year of operation while revisiting its major achievements and accomplishments throughout the academic year. A total of 19 participants, composed of editorial board members, department heads, and staff members, attended the event to assess the publicationโ€™s progress and organizational development.

During the session, the body evaluated past media coverages, member performance, and editorial updates. Comprehensive executive reports were likewise presented by Gajete and outgoing Managing Editor Althea Kaithlyn U. Cabilte, highlighting the publicationโ€™s operational milestones, organizational growth, and future directions.

In a bittersweet segment of the assembly, Gajete and Cabilte formally submitted their resignations as they prepared to conclude their terms as executive officers. They were joined by Head Correspondent Carl Jeoff T. Gomonit and Head Layout Artist Keziah C. Tenio, who also officially vacated their leadership positions. The departing editors shared heartfelt messages of gratitude, reflecting on the challenges and successes they experienced during the publicationโ€™s foundational year while expressing appreciation to the entire team for their dedication and commitment.

One of the highlights of the assembly was the formal announcement and introduction of The Bullโ€™s Eyeโ€™s newly appointed Executive Editorial Board and Editorial Board officers for the upcoming operational year.

John Emmanuel C. Igdalino, formerly the Sports Writing Section Head, was appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief. Joining him in the executive lineup are Cheska Jec T. Abatayo, who remains in office as Associate Editor-in-Chief; Jon Vincent Raul F. Nacua, formerly the Science and Technology Writing Section Head, who assumes the position of Managing Editor; and Clayde Josephe S. Lazarte, who continues to serve as Managing Editor for Finance.

The official appointments and introductions of the incoming student editors were delivered by Student Development and Activities Office (SDAO) Coordinator Lara C. Lleรฑos-Baculi. The transition process was facilitated in accordance with the publicationโ€™s Constitution and By-Laws to ensure continuity of leadership and operations.

As the assembly drew to a close, the outgoing leaders expressed their confidence in the capabilities, vision, and commitment of the newly appointed officers to lead the publication to greater heights. They emphasized that while the pioneering leaders may have stepped down from their positions, the transition marks not an ending but a continuation of the mission and legacy they helped establishโ€”passing the torch to a new generation of student journalists who will carry The Bullโ€™s Eye forward in the years to come.

John Emmanuel C. Igdalino was officially named the new Editor-in-Chief of The Bullโ€™s Eye for Academic Year 2026โ€“2027 on May 29 during the PAGTAPOS: The Bullโ€™s Eye Year-End General Assembly held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Room 718, 7th Floor of NU Cebu, following the approval of Resolution No. 2026-01.

Through Resolution No. 2026-01, entitled โ€œA Resolution Confirming and Presenting the Executive Editorial Board and Editorial Board Members of The Bullโ€™s Eye for Academic Year 2026โ€“2027,โ€ Igdalino, formerly the Sports Section Head, was appointed as the new Editor-in-Chief of the publication.

The appointment followed the resignation of outgoing Editor-in-Chief Dnvr Cliedzray L. Gajete and Managing Editor Althea Kaithlyn U. Cabilte, who are both expected to assume greater responsibilities within the NU Cebu Student Government. Gajete is set to serve as the incoming President of the NU Cebu Student Government, while Cabilte is expected to serve as Chief-of-Staff of the Office of the President.

Also retaining their positions in the Executive Editorial Board are Associate Editor-in-Chief Cheska Jec T. Abatayo and Managing Editor for Finance Clayde Josephe S. Lazarte. Meanwhile, Jon Vincent Raul F. Nacua was appointed as the new Managing Editor following the vacancy left by Cabilte.

The selection and appointment process adhered to the provisions of Republic Act No. 7079, otherwise known as the Campus Journalism Act of 1991, and the Constitution and By-Laws of The Bullโ€™s Eye. The process involved careful deliberations, secret nominations, consultations, placement evaluations, and interviews conducted by the publication leadership together with the adviser.

Alongside the appointment of the new Editor-in-Chief, the publication also confirmed the reappointment of continuing officers and the appointment of new members to complete the Executive Editorial Board and Editorial Board for Academic Year 2026โ€“2027. Several positions within the Editorial Board remain vacant and are expected to be filled in the coming months as the publication continues its internal appointments and evaluation process.

Ms. Lara C. Llenos-Baculi, SDAO Coordinator and Officer-in-Charge Adviser of The Bullโ€™s Eye, formally read and presented the resolution during the assembly and facilitated the interview and confirmation procedures of the nominees.

Representatives from the NU Cebu Commission on Student Elections (NUCCSE) were also present during the event to witness the formal presentation and confirmation proceedings of the newly constituted publication leadership.

With the transition into the next academic year, The Bullโ€™s Eye also looks forward to welcoming new students and aspiring campus journalists who will undergo the necessary screening, training, and qualification processes in accordance with the publicationโ€™s guidelines and Republic Act No. 7079.

The assembly marked not only a transition of leadership but also the continuation of The Bullโ€™s Eyeโ€™s commitment to responsible campus journalism, student representation, and meaningful service to the university community.
