CebuaNUs are advised to limit outdoor exposure and wear well-fitted N95 or KN95 masks when going outdoors.

Hindi nila nakikita ang mga gabing nangangatal ka sa pagtitimpi, maayos lang ang sarili mo. Hindi nila naririnig ang mga salitang nilulunok mo para hindi maging “pabigat.” Hindi nila alam kung ilang beses mong piniling magpatuloy kahit pagod ka nang lumaban at gustong-gusto mo nang lumubog sa k**a.

Minsan, ang taong tinatawag nating “mabigat kasama” ay taong matagal nang mag-isang bumubuhat sa mga bagay na hindi naman dapat lumalapat sa balikat.

CEBU CITY, Philippines — NU Cebu joined fellow student technology communities in the AWS Student Community Day Cebu 2026, a gathering that brought together students, developers, and technology enthusiasts for a day of learning, collaboration, and engagement in cloud computing.

Through its AWS Student Builder Group (SBG), NU Cebu participated in the event alongside other student communities from universities across Cebu. The gathering provided students with opportunities to connect with fellow aspiring developers and gain insights from industry professionals and AWS community leaders.

The program featured a keynote presentation, an AWS SBG leads’ panel, technical breakout sessions, and interactive activities. Topics included cloud system design, event-driven systems, project development, and codebase management, giving participants practical insights into current technologies and development practices.

NU Cebu’s participation highlighted its students’ active involvement in the local technology community. By taking part in AWS Student Community Day Cebu 2026, NU Cebu students strengthened their exposure to cloud technologies while fostering collaboration and connections with fellow student builders across Cebu.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀

Perhaps a hero is not remembered because their name was carved into stone, but because something of them remained after they were gone.

A flower blooms long after the hands that planted it have faded. A light continues to reach us long after the one who kindled it has disappeared beyond our sight.

So today, we remember not only those who came before us, but also what they left behind—the courage, the hope, and the freedom that quietly found its way into our hands.

Perhaps the greatest way to honor them is simply to carry it forward.

CEBU CITY, Philippines— The NU Cebu School Press Conference (NUCSPC) 2026 concluded with a closing program that recognized the accomplishments of student journalists, judges, and resource persons who contributed to the success of the conference.

The program opened with an invocation led by Ms. Mary Delos Reyes, followed by a presentation of the conference highlights and accomplishments by Drey Cagado. Mr. Dwight John Florida, representing the Board of Judges, delivered a message reflecting on the participants’ performance and emphasizing the importance of responsible and meaningful campus journalism.

Dr. Von Daniel Plasencia led the recognition of the Board of Judges and resource persons for their time, expertise, and guidance throughout the conference. Their contributions provided the participants with valuable insights and strengthened their preparation for the succeeding stages of competition.

The awarding ceremony, led by the judges, Dr. Von Daniel Plasencia, and Mr. Kenth Andre D. Lara, recognized student journalists who excelled in their respective categories and earned the opportunity to represent NU Cebu at the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026.

The closing program concluded with a message from Ms. Cheska Tiu, who encouraged the student journalists to carry essence of journalism towards comforting truth. The NU Hymn formally closed NUCSPC 2026, bringing together the student journalists, organizers, judges, and resource persons in celebration of the conference’s accomplishments.

In her closing remarks, Cheska Tiu, Editor-in-Chief of The Bull’s Eye, reflected on the essence of journalism as a responsibility rooted in service, truth, and press freedom.

She reminded fellow student journalists that the role of the press is not to demand recognition or to be served, but to remember whom journalism is ultimately for—the bayan. Every story written, every truth pursued, and every voice amplified carries with it a responsibility to the people who depend on the press to inform, question, and hold power accountable.

At the heart of press freedom is the courage to speak, the integrity to seek the truth, and the commitment to remain in service to the public. Journalism is more than a craft; it is a duty to the people and a responsibility that must be carried with purpose.
