Scenes of ashfall in Cebu City following the moderately explosive eruption of Mt. Kanlaon on July 9, 2026. Fine volcanic ash carried by prevailing winds settled on roads, vehicles, rooftops, and other surfaces across parts of the city, creating hazy conditions and prompting residents to take precautions. The eruption, which occurred earlier in the day, dispersed ash over portions of Negros and reached parts of Cebu as Alert Level 2 remained in effect over the volcano.
