SAN JOSE, CAMARINES SUR โ From one administration to the next, the torch of student leadership changed hands as the Partido State University College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) โ San Jose Campus held its Fellowship and Oath-Taking Ceremony on September 17, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the Andaya Grounds, bringing together students, outgoing officers, newly elected leaders, and academic awardees in a celebration of service, achievement, and new beginnings.
More than a ceremonial gathering, the event marked a transition as outgoing student leaders formally passed their responsibilities to the newly elected officers who will carry the student council into its next chapter.
The ceremony opened with a prayer, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and the recitation of the universityโs mission, vision, core values, and quality policy. CHTM Dean Dr. Niรฑo Rebuya then delivered the welcome address, emphasizing that education extends beyond academic learning and plays a vital role in shaping students as future professionals and leaders.
โThis occasion reminds us that education goes beyond what we learn inside the classroom. As a college, we aim to develop not only hospitality and tourism professionals but also individuals who demonstrate integrity, responsibility, leadership, professionalism, and genuine service to others,โ Rebuya said.
The newly elected student leaders were then introduced before taking their official oath of office, administered by Rebuya. The oath-taking formally marked their acceptance of the responsibilities entrusted to them as representatives of the student body.
The ceremony then turned toward the leaders who had carried those responsibilities before them. In her message, outgoing Student Council Vice President Miss Claire Abragan reflected on the essence of leadership and the responsibility that comes with serving fellow students.
โLeadership is about people. It's about listening, serving, understanding, and choosing to show up even when things are difficult,โ Abragan said.
Following her message, Abragan formally led the turnover of responsibilities from the outgoing administration to the newly elected officers, symbolizing the continuity of student leadership and service within the college.
The responsibility was then entrusted to newly elected Student Council President Kim Trono Bongat, who accepted the challenge of leading the student council into its new chapter.
Bongat acknowledged that stepping into leadership can bring uncertainty, but emphasized that recognizing the weight of responsibility is itself part of becoming a leader.
โI realized that being afraid does not mean we are weak, and feeling unprepared does not mean we are incapable. Sometimes, it simply means that we understand the weight of the responsibility we are about to carry,โ Bongat said.
An inspirational message followed, reinforcing the importance of commitment, responsibility, and service as the newly elected leaders began their tenure.
But leadership was only one part of the celebration.
The formal atmosphere gave way to vibrant performances as various student organizations and publication took the stage. The Tourism Enthusiasts Association opened the series of energetic dance presentations, followed by performances from the Student Council, The Blaze Publication, School-Based Ready Reserve Unit, National Service Reserved Corps, the Association of Hospitality Management Students, Medics, and the official Performing Arts group of Partido State University โ San Jose Campus.
Academic excellence also took center stage as certificates were awarded to outstanding students from the Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management (BSTM) and Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management (BSHM) programs for the second semester of Academic Year 2025โ2026.
The celebration later took a lighter turn with the Best Outfit segment, where Kenji Brutas was recognized in the male category and Robelyn Asor in the female category.
With the formalities behind them, students and leaders came together for music, dancing, and fellowship. The celebration reached its final beat with a performance by the Guling-Guling Band, closing an afternoon that blended ceremony with camaraderie.
As one administration stepped aside and another stepped forward, the CHTM Fellowship and Oath-Taking Ceremony became more than a celebration of outgoing and incoming officers. It marked the continuation of a leadership legacyโone passed from hand to hand, carried by responsibility, service, and the commitment to lead the college community forward.
