The awarding ceremony was led by Wimbledon B. Bosque, editor-in-chief of New Tandem, with the winners recognized by the university publication’s core members. An intermission performance of “Liwanag sa Dilim” was rendered by Roman Paolo Atianzar and Reizell Anne Talavera of New Tandem.

Jake Axel Tacadena, associate editor of New Tandem and the Student Council President-Elect, delivered his opening remarks, urging fellow student journalists to uphold their responsibility to the truth.

“Be a responsible journalist. In this field, revealing the truth is not a privilege—it is a responsibility,” Tacadena said.

Mr. Kennedy Jetajobe delivered the message of Prof. Nelson F. Benzon, head of Student Publication Services, commending the participants and stressing the purpose of campus journalism.

"Campus journalism is not about positions, medals, or fame; it is about service. It amplifies the voices of the student body and tells stories that spark change," Mr. Jetajobe said.

To close the program, New Tandem associate editor Ana Isabella Aquino left participants with a reflection on the role of journalists.

"Why did I become a journalist? For whom should I deliver the truth? And why should I deliver the truth?" Aquino said.

LITERARY | NIGHT AND DAY

NIGHT AND DAY
—A Villanelle Poem

My own masquerade, heart and soul allay
My own mask, reveal the wight, self unseen
My own procession, marching night and day

Wildlife's vast faces, empathize, make way
With muscle, bone, & my shoulder to lean
My own masquerade, heart and soul allay

Calmuseptine's not enough, scars and words stay
Like them, a wight's heart so big, mind so keen
My own procession, marching night and day

Of own flowers, I deserve my bouquet
Exuberant pink, sky blue, emerald green
My own masquerade, heart and soul allay

My great white horse, gallop, piercing pray
Towards the horizon, colors bright & sheen
My own procession, marching night and day

Takes a lot of hurt, to create what I say
Sublimate, better than man’s ever seen
My own masquerade, heart and soul allay
My own procession, marching night and day

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last March 12, 2025, the University of Northern Philippines - College of Architecture and Central Luzon State University reaffirmed their commitment to heritage conservation through a culminating presentation of student outputs held on May 14, 2025, at the CLSU Administration Building.

The same delegation from UNP, led by Dean Dr. Fatima Nicetas Rabang-Alonzo, along with Engr. Maila Pedrigal Ragasa (Extension Coordinator), Ar. Julius U. Artates, and Ar. Beulah T. Gascon, returned to CLSU to witness the formal presentation of Conservation Management Plans (CMPs) and proposed adaptive reuse designs developed by 5th-year BS Architecture students. Each class was represented by three student presenters who showcased comprehensive architectural assessments, detailed forecasts, and sustainable proposals for the preservation and transformation of designated heritage structures within the CLSU campus.

The CLSU administration, Dr Celyrah Castillo , the focal person from the university, including the university officials and technical staff, commended the UNP students for their well-executed outputs, which reflected not only academic rigor but also a deep respect for historical integrity and cultural context. The initiative marks a vital step forward in fostering inter-institutional collaboration and in shaping a new generation of architects committed to the sustainable conservation of Philippine heritage.
