PAMPANGA BRACES FOR IMPACT OF TROPICAL STORM UWAN
SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — As Tropical Storm Uwan approaches Central Luzon, provincial officials in Pampanga are taking proactive measures to safeguard residents and critical infrastructure.
On Saturday morning, Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda personally inspected disaster response vehicles and equipment at the Provincial Engineering Office compound in San Fernando. The inspection covered fire trucks, dump trucks, heavy equipment, rescue boats, and other emergency apparatus to ensure readiness in the event of flooding or storm-related incidents. Pineda also reminded rescue personnel to strictly follow safety protocols during operations.
Following the inspection, Pineda visited the Command and Control Center to monitor real-time tracking of the storm and assess conditions in coastal barangays via the provincial CCTV system.
In Barangay San Juan Baño, at the foot of Mount Arayat, local officials conducted a virtual test of early warning devices, including sirens, while also monitoring landslide sensors on the mountain to mitigate risks from potential soil erosion.
Provincial staff are preparing sandbags and have prepositioned 36,287 relief packs and 60,760 canned goods for distribution if needed. Evacuation centers across the province are ready, equipped with food, mats, blankets, and medical teams to assist residents from high-risk coastal and upland areas, particularly those near Mount Arayat.
Vice Governor Pineda urged all Kapampangans to remain vigilant and follow official advisories as the storm is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rainfall beginning Sunday evening. IORBITNEWS TEAM
