Skamax started out as a venue where ska bands oriented in the third wave sound can play and develop their skills in front of kids who are into the same genre, it has grown today to further spread ska music in all its genres In that year, there were so many bands that came out that there was a need to put up a satellite gig where newer bands can have a monthly event of their own. Freedom Bar became
the first home of Skamax and one February night of 2003, the first Skamax gig was held featuring SteadyMovinBeat, Greetings From Julie, Mighty Kids and Orange Street. Subsequent lineups included Mighty Atoms of Laguna, Spoil Army, Cotton Panty, Nuras, Malaska, Far from Over, and so on, with support from Shuffle Union, Jeepney Joyride, and CBI. Although Skamax started out as a venue where ska bands oriented in the third wave sound can play and develop their skills in front of kids who are into the same genre, it has grown today to further spread ska music in all its genres and has found a new home at THE SPOT. It will continue to grow thanks to the efforts of the new breed of bands in the scene.
