๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐ | Rise of the Rain of Fire
A roar once rare, a blow so tough. Being a witness to the spikes in the temperature and the birth of a brutal empire, fueled by human-made emissions and governed by the sunโs undefeatable power. With heat indices soaring past human tolerance, what we face is no longer just a weather anomaly but a climate regime.

Scientists warn that we have entered an era where extreme heat is not just a symptom of climate change, but a sovereign force reshaping how we live, work, and survive. From cities melting under urban heat islands to rural communities grappling with fatal dehydration, the reign of fire spares no one. Powered by greenhouse gases, deforestation, and warming oceans, this new climate monarch is both invisible and merciless.

Since June 2025, Compostelaโs heat index has risen to extremely high levels, bringing both people and systems to their breaking point. Compostela National High School receives complaints that the intense heat of the midday sun makes it difficult for staff, teachers, and students to focus in class.
The impact is even more intense during practices and rehearsals in preparation for culminating activities across learning areas, where long exposure to high temperatures puts both students and teachers at risk of heat-related stress. A rising heat chaos not only manipulates academic performance but also studentsโ well-being.
โSige nalang kog huna-huna kung unsaon nako pag sabay og answer ang akong mga activities while mag-practice koโg mass dance nga perti ka init. Before pajud atong nag practice, nag sige pajud miโg roam around the campus tungod atong performance task na gipanghatag sa among subject teachers. Init sab kaayo at that time pero gikaya ug kayahon para sa kaugmaon,โ Nherizza Abarquez stated in an interview on August 6, 2025, a Grade 9 Special Program in Arts student.
According to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and PAG-ASA, heat index, defined as the apparent temperature or how the human body feels, can soar to dangerous levels when high humidity combines with extreme air temperatures.
Once it exceeds 41ยฐC, the body struggles to regulate sun rays efficiently, increasing the risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration, and even heatstroke. This rising heat chaos doesnโt just affect academic performance. Instead, it threatens physical health, mental focus, and overall student well-being, especially in schools with limited ventilation or access to cooling systems.

As the effects of temperature and humidity combine, hot components fill the oxygen. Based on scientific research, heat can cause exhaustion marked by heavy sweating and weakness. Heat stroke, dizziness, and dehydration also occur quickly, as the body loses water through sweating.
It may trigger wildfires due to dry conditions and cause crop damage from intense heat. Risks of power outages, transport issues, and disrupted work or school activities arise.
In light of these rising threats, the idea is clear that extreme heat is nothing but a dangerous new normal. Given the environmental and scientific reasons, the lives of many demand urgent attention.

The data speaks, symptoms show, and effects are obvious in every dimension. As Compostela National High School feels its weight and arrows under the heat, questions have been answered.
Extreme heat is no longer a future threatโitโs the burning reality of today. The rise of this rain of fire demands urgent action backed by science and awareness. Without bold solutions, the damage will only grow hotter and harder to reverse.
