When a child is scared of us, their brain shifts into survival, not learning. They stop listening to understand and start listening to stay safe.�
And when safety becomes the goal, curiosity, honesty, and connection fall away.

Respect built on fear is not respect — it’s self-protection. And while fear may control behaviour, it never cultivates conscience.

Children don’t learn best from the people who frighten them — they learn from the people who make them feel seen, safe, and understood.

So if we want to guide them, we have to earn their trust — not through intimidation, but through presence.�
Not by making them afraid to fall, but by showing them we’ll be there when they do. ❤️

Kuya Kim nagkwento kung gaano siya nagsisi na hindi niya nalaa-nan ng maraming oras ang mga anak niya. Kung maibabalik lang daw niya ang oras o panahon noong mga bata pa ang mga anak niya, sana mas pinili niyang makabonding sila nang madalas.

Sa ngayon, nililigawan daw niya ang mga anak niya para samahan siya. "If you're not so busy, please be with papa naman," ika niya.

"Lumawig ang career ko, pero mas naging masaya ako kung noong mga bata pa sila nakabonding ko ng madalas. Akala ko binalanse ko lahat, pero sa mata ng mga bata, hindi. They want you," dagdag pa ni Kuya Kim.

Totoo, busy nga naman talaga tayo sa iba’t ibang circumstances sa buhay. Trabaho, goals, o pangarap. Pero kapag may anak ka na, iba na ang priorities. Hindi mo na mababalikan ang oras, kaya habang andiyan pa sila, make time to be with them as often as possible.

Minsan kasi, akala natin sapat na ang “pagbibigay.” Akala natin basta may pagkain, tuition, at bahay, okay na. Pero ang totoo, minsan ang gusto lang ng mga bata ay yung presensya mo habang kumakain, nagkukuwento, o nanonood ng TV kasama sila.

Habang tumatanda, mapapansin mong lumalayo rin sila. Hindi dahil galit, kundi kasi nasanay silang wala ka. Masakit marinig, pero ganun talaga kapag puro trabaho ang kasama mo, hindi sila. Kaya sana, habang may oras pa, piliin mong bumawi.

Hindi mo kailangang perpektong magulang. Ang importante, maramdaman ng anak mo na gusto mo silang makasama. Walang halagang katumbas ang oras at yakap na galing sa magulang.

Kaya kung may anak kang naghihintay lang sa sala, ilayo mo muna ang cellphone o laptop. Kamustahin mo sila, maglaro, o sabay kayong kumain ng paborito nilang ulam. Sa dulo, yun ang mga sandaling hinding-hindi mo pagsisisihan.
