๐๐ข๐จ๐ถ๐ช๐จ ๐๐ช๐ต๐บ โThe United Youth for Peace and Development, Inc. (UNYPAD), represented by the NCR, Taguig, Napindan, Maharlika, and New Lower Bicutan Chapters, extends its sincere appreciation to the Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines for inviting us to participate in their annual Iftar gathering held on March 9, 2026, at Conference Room A, JLMCG Building, CHR Central Office in Quezon City.
Carrying the theme โCelebrating Islam: A Religion of Peace that Upholds and Champions Human Rights,โ the event served as a meaningful platform for solidarity with the Muslim community. It also provided an opportunity to highlight Filipino-Muslim culture and traditions while reaffirming a shared commitment to promoting and protecting religious freedom and human rights.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mary Joyce M.Crisanto, OIC-Director IV of HRPO, for her welcoming message. Our appreciation also goes to Hon. Richard P. Palpal-Latoc, Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights, for his warm welcome and inspiring remarks during the gathering.
We are equally thankful to Hon. Faydah Maniri Dumarpa, CHR Focal Commissioner for Muslim Filipinos, who presented a situationer on Muslim women and discussed the role of the Commission as a Gender Ombud. Her discussion highlighted important issues concerning womenโs rights, particularly the right to be free from discrimination and violence, as well as rights related to employment, health, and safe working conditions. The message was especially significant as it resonated with the observance of Womenโs Month, reminding everyone of the continuing efforts to uphold gender equality and protect womenโs rights.
The gathering was also attended by other officials of the Commission, representatives from partner government agencies, and members of various civil society organizations, further strengthening collaboration and dialogue among institutions advocating for human rights.
A highlight of the evening was a cultural presentation showcasing the rich heritage of the Bangsamoro people through a Tausug traditional dance, Pangalay, which added depth and cultural appreciation to the celebration.
As the Muslim community approaches Eid'l Fitr and the conclusion of Ramadan, this gathering served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of interfaith understanding, inclusivity, and unity. The discussions and exchanges throughout the evening deeply resonated with the youth leaders and representatives present, strengthening their commitment to peacebuilding, cultural appreciation, and the promotion of human rights.
Events like this remind us that respect, dialogue, and shared values are essential in building a more harmonious and inclusive society. As young leaders of UNYPAD, we remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing peace, mutual respect, and religious freedom for all.
