The overall residential rate of Cotabato Light went up by P1.7637 per kilowatt hour (kWh) this September, increasing the rate to Php 10.0952/kWh from P8.3315/kWh last month. This rate applies to bills received from September 16, 2025 to October 15, 2025.

The increase in electricity rates is mainly because of higher power supply prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM), following power plant outages, which is among the factors that led to the yellow alerts issued by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) last month. Increases in generation costs, particularly from the spot market, where Cotabato Light sources part of its power requirement, directly affect the overall rate charged to consumers. With this, Cotabato Light continues to encourage customers to manage their energy consumption and use electricity wisely to avoid high electricity bill.

𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗟𝗬 𝗔𝗦 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗥𝗚𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗥𝗖𝗘 (𝗗𝗘𝗥):

𝟭. 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁- The applicant must undergo an initial assessment to determine the feasibility of installing DER by submitting a letter of intent (LOI) to the DU. The LOI must include information about the total DER capacity, Single Line Diagram (SLD), and location of the DER. The DU will conduct pre-evaluation to determine if the distribution network can accommodate the connection of the DER.

The applicant will be informed if they have passed the initial assessment and will be required to submit necessary documents for the DU’s conduct of Distribution Impact Study.

𝟮. 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 (𝗗𝗜𝗦) - The DU will conduct a DIS to determine the impact of the DER installation on the distribution system.

Depending on the results of the DIS, the DU may also conduct a Distribution Assessment Study to determine the additional assets needed to support the connection of the DER.

𝟯. 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 - Once the DIS and DAS (if applicable) are complete, the applicant will be informed of the interconnection requirements for the energization of their DER installation.

𝟰. 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - The applicant will need to complete the Renewable DER Supply Agreement.

𝟱. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 - Upon applicant’s compliance with the Interconnection Requirements, the DU will conduct final inspection and install bidirectional meters and Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) meters. The applicant will then coordinate with the DU for the conduct of the functionality tests to ensure that their DER installation is working properly.
