Just watched her story 💔
In a deeply emotional episode of Toni Talks, singer Jona bravely opened up about a painful secret she kept for years revealing that she was abused by her own father when she was only ten years old, shortly after her mother left home.
With a trembling voice, she recalled, “Nung bata ako, at 10 years old, naging biktima din ako ng mole**** from my father. At 10 years old. After ng pangyayari na umalis yung nanay ko.”
Jona said she was too young to understand what was happening. “That time, hindi ko alam paano magre-react. Kasi nga, hindi ko naman alam yung mga bagay na ganun eh.” She remembered being frozen in fear, not knowing if she should scream or cry for help.
Even after the incident, life went on as if nothing had happened. “Even pagkatapos mangyari yung mga bagay na ‘yun, all those years growing up, magkasama pa rin kami ng papa ko… as if walang nangyari,” she shared softly.
Though the abuse ended after that year, Jona admitted that the emotional wounds stayed with her. “Minsan, kakausapin mo yung sarili mo, sarili mo din yung sasagot sa’yo na, ‘wala ka namang kwenta,’ kasi dahil na-abuso ka, feeling mo ‘you’re not pure anymore,’ ‘wala ka nang value.’”
She revealed that it took years before she realized how deeply it affected her confidence and trust. “Yung self-esteem, sobrang baba,” she confessed.
Toni reflected on Jona’s pain, saying that it’s understandable for her to struggle trusting men “Kasi kung nagawa ‘yun ng kadugo mo, what more yung bagong tao na papapasukin mo sa buhay mo.”
Jona’s courage to speak about her trauma touched many hearts, reminding others that healing begins with honesty and that breaking the silence is the first step to freedom.
