From Japan to UL: New Luzonian Finds a Warm Welcome Through Tiger's Walk

During the University's annual Tiger's Walk, Communication News had the opportunity to speak with ๐— ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ ๐—ž๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ผ, a first-year BSIT student who recently moved to the Philippines from Japan and is now studying at the University of Luzon.

Mona shared that she initially felt nervous about studying in the Philippines because she did not know how to speak Filipino (Tagalog). However, those worries gradually faded after meeting new friends who made her feel welcomed and included.

As she begins her journey as a Luzonian, Mona hopes to learn more throughout her stay at the Universityโ€”not only in her academics but also by learning the Filipino language and experiencing Filipino culture.

Mona's story reflects the spirit of Tiger's Walkโ€”a tradition that welcomes every new Luzonian and highlights the University's commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive community, where students from different backgrounds and nationalities can feel at home.

One week has passed since the start of classes, and for many students, it's the beginning of a new chapter filled with adjustments, challenges, and new experiences.

From finding classrooms and meeting new people to surviving quizzes, deadlines, and long walks around the campusโ€”every student has a story to tell.
