PNP ASSURES MAXIMUM TOLERANCE, FULL TRANSPARENCY FOR UPCOMING PEACEFUL ASSEMBLY

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of Acting Chief PNP, Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., is finalizing its security preparations, which were presented today to Hon. Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the Command Conference, ahead of the three-day peaceful assembly in Metro Manila from November 16 to 18.

Secretary Remulla expressed satisfaction with the PNP’s thorough deployment and contingency preparations. He underscored the importance of close inter-agency coordination and conveyed President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to all law enforcement units to exercise maximum tolerance while upholding the constitutionally guaranteed right to peaceful assembly.

He also urged the PNP to ensure that all personnel are fully prepared—physically, mentally, and logistically. The Secretary directed close coordination with the Philippine Red Cross, DSWD, and DOH, and instructed that all medical teams, triage areas, doctors, and nurses be on full standby during the three-day event.

To strengthen transparency and accountability, Secretary Remulla ordered that PNP personnel be equipped with body-worn cameras, noting that this measure aims to prevent unfounded allegations similar to past incidents involving crowd dispersals.

Acting Chief PNP, Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., issued additional directives, particularly on traffic management.

He instructed the Highway Patrol Group (HPG) to maintain close coordination with partner agencies, place all HPG personnel on standby, and ensure tow trucks and quick-response teams are readily available during the assembly.

“Our duty is to protect—protect the rights of our people, and protect the peace we all work hard to preserve,” PLTGEN Nartatez said. “The PNP will be firm, calm, and transparent throughout the event.”

PNP Spokesperson and Chief PIO, Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaño, reinforced the commitment to maintaining peace and safety through disciplined law enforcement.

“The public will see a police force that is prepared, coordinated, and deeply respectful of the people’s right to express themselves,” PBGEN Tuaño said. “We stand ready to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of these assemblies.”

The PNP underscores that all preparations uphold the directives of the President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to its service mantra:“Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”
