Failed Attempts End in Successful Entrapment; Active BFP Personnel Linked
After several unsuccessful tries, law enforcers finally pulled off a successful entrapment operation on Sunday noon in coordination with Dipolog CPS and CIDG-ZDN-PFU as the Lead Unit, which led to the arrest of two suspects, Former BFP Personnel Fabian Molina Belleno (Resigned last May 16, 2025) and Ephrem Alabastro Manopollo.
But what makes the case more alarming is that investigators have also identified an active member of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) as being involved, disclosed by Regional Director FCSUPT Jerry D Candido, DSC on a Presscon.
He also said that the operation had been carefully monitored following earlier failed attempts, which gave them enough basis to pinpoint those allegedly behind the illicit activity. The breakthrough came over the weekend, raising questions about possible wider links and the integrity of some public servants.
The identity of the BFP personnel has not yet been released pending official confirmation and possible filing of administrative and criminal charges. However, officials assured the public that accountability will be pursued at all levels, stressing that no one is above the law.
The arrests have reignited discussions about corruption and abuse of authority within government ranks, with watchdog groups calling for transparency and swift action from the BFP leadership.
