🇵🇭 Travel Thoughts: Mahal ba talaga mag-travel sa Pilipinas?

Lately, I keep hearing this and sometimes thought about this:
"Mas mura pa and mas worth it mag-travel abroad kesa sa Pilipinas."

And to be honest? Sometimes may point and mapapaisip ka talaga.
From overpriced fees, tourist traps, and poor transportation, minsan nakakainis at nakakalungkot.

Pero nitong last birthday trip namin sa Rizal na ilang oras lang ang layo from Metro Manila, I was reminded of this:
👉 Ang dami pa rin palang magagandang lugar sa Pilipinas.
Mountains with city light views. Beaches na blue and peaceful. Historical spots, rich culture, masarap na local food, all within reach and accessible.

Hindi mo kailangan ng "Project 82" para ma-appreciate ang ganda ng Pinas.
Minsan, kailangan lang natin tumingin ulit. Appreciate what’s near. What’s familiar.

Yes, it’s true.
✅ Minsan mahal.
✅ Minsan hassle.
✅ Minsan nakakadismaya ang sistema.

Pero it doesn’t mean hindi maganda ang Pilipinas.
Maybe we just need more intentional travels here, less touristy, more local. Less checklist, more connection. ✨

Let’s keep exploring. Let’s still hope.
Let’s still believe our country is worth seeing again.

🎉 It’s that “birthday month” kind of feeling again...
A mix of excitement, reflection, and a little soul-searching. 🌀

July marks another year of life for me and while I’m truly grateful and excited, I can’t help but pause and reflect:
❓ Am I where I’m really supposed to be?
❓ Is this job, this journey, this path… really it? Should I start a business now?
❓ Should I change directions? Start fresh? Do more?
❓ What is my true purpose and am I living it fully?

Then I’m reminded of God’s word to Jeremiah, a message I believe speaks to all of us:

📖 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart.”
- Jeremiah 1:5

What a powerful reminder:
🌱 Our lives are not random.
🧭 Our calling is not accidental.
💡 God already knew your purpose even before you knew yourself.

So if you're in a season of wondering too… maybe the best next step isn’t to chase every answer but to seek Him, the One who already holds them all. 🙏

✨ Another year. A deeper walk. A clearer purpose.

🌧 Not Every Day Is a Good Day… and That’s Okay. ☀️

During one of our recent church fellowships, we had a chance to pause and share what’s been going on in our lives, the kind of honest check-in that makes you realize just how diverse everyone's journey really is.

Some shared about losing a loved one while facing family conflicts at the same time.
Some are caring for a sick family member, struggling emotionally and financially with medical bills that reached over a million.
Some are silently drowning in debts while still trying to be the provider for their family.
Others? Just flat. No highs, no extreme lows just coasting, trying to keep afloat.
And a few shared the joy of preparing for a wedding. Beautiful, yes, but still not without its share of stress and uncertainty.

That’s life, isn’t it? Everyone is either going through something now or about to. It's not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when. And honestly? I used to wonder if it’s even possible to prepare for life’s storms.

But here’s what left me in awe:
Despite the pain, the pressure, and the problems they’re still showing up.
Still smiling.
Still laughing.
Still serving.

How?
Why?
It made me reflect deeply.

Then a verse came to mind:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds…”
- James 1:2-4

That’s when it hit me, joy isn’t about the absence of hardship.
For believers, joy is about who walks with us through it.

It’s the quiet confidence that even in chaos, God is near.
It’s the assurance that our trials aren’t pointless. They’re shaping us, strengthening us, and making us more like the person God created us to be.

So if you're in a season where it feels like you're just holding it all together.
You're not alone.
Your struggles are real.
But so is God’s presence, His purpose, and His promise.

💬 Count it all joy… not because it’s easy, but because He is with you.

🌤 SUNDAY PAUSE 🌤
“Sa’kin ka magpahinga…” — those simple words from a song hit differently when you’re tired, anxious, or silently struggling.

One time habang nagda-drive ako, this song played on the radio…

🎵 “Huwag kang mangamba, hindi ka nag-iisa.
Huwag ka nang mag-alala, dadamayan kita.
Sa oras ng kalungkutan, hindi kita bibitiwan.
Sa’kin ka magpahinga.” 🎵

It is not even a worship song pero bigla akong naremind. Parang sinasabi ni Lord sa puso ko:
“Anak, I’m right here. I'm always with you.” 🥹

And that’s when I remembered this verse:

📖 Psalm 91:2
"I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Now I understand how the Psalmist felt. 'Yung peace na kahit na you're in the middle of a struggle, you know God is with you.
Sa bawat pagod, worries, or sadness—He is our refuge.
