The yellow phase ribbon eel (female) is one of the ocean’s most striking and elegant residents. With her bright golden-yellow body and flowing, ribbon-like movements, she adds a touch of magic to the rubble reef. Often spotted peeking from her burrow with her jaw open in a signature pose, she’s a favorite for underwater photographers and critter lovers.
Fun fact: Ribbon eels are protandric hermaphrodites — they begin life as males and later transform into females. That golden color means you’ve just met the queen of the reef! 👑💛
