An old interview of Emman Atienza with Toni Gonzaga, filmed around 11 months ago, has resurfaced online and is now being revisited by netizens especially in light of her recent passing.
In the emotional interview, Emman opened up about the intense hate and criticism she received online, revealing how deeply the comments affected her mental and emotional state.
“I went live on Black qpp and someone commented, ‘Girl, you’re being talked about on Twitt**.’ Then I found out I was the number one trending topic in the Philippines. During that controversy, it really felt like the entire internet was against me,” she recalled.
Emman recounted the harsh words thrown at her by bashers:
“They called me privileged, insensitive, a rich kid, ignorant, useless, a disappointment, even ugly. Some even told me to commit su***de to end my life.”
She admitted that the constant hate made her start believing the negativity around her.
“Maybe I really am not a good person. Maybe I don’t deserve to be happy. Maybe this life isn’t meant for me. What if I just… died?” she said tearfully during the interview.
The clip, now going viral again, has left many viewers heartbroken, realizing how much silent pain Emman was carrying behind her smiles. Many netizens expressed regret for not understanding her struggles sooner and are now calling for more compassion online, emphasizing the real impact of words on a person’s mental health.
