Residents of Crisis Intervention Center (CIC)-Balay Dangupan enjoyed a day of fun-filled activities last week as the center held its Summer Camp 2025 at its facility.

The May 15 event was attended by the center’s 45 residents and various staff members. It was intended to promote personal development, strengthen friendships, and develop empathic and leadership skills among young girls who had experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment.

Social Worker Vanessa Cabahug of Balay Dangupan told City Information Office on Wednesday that the summer camp was one of the key initiatives of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to empower Balay Dangupan residents.

She said throughout the day, the children participated in team-building exercises, creative sessions, and the highly-anticipated bonfire.

“We let our residents cook and prepare their food but they were also supervised by their house parents. The main highlight was the bonfire, where they enjoyed and had fun singing along with their co-residents,” she said.

“We are really grateful to have contributed to the joyful moments of the residents during the activity, and it really inspires us nga magkugi pa gyod sa pagtrabaho isip usa ka trabahante sa CSWDO nga mag mugna pa og mga ingon ani nga aktibidad aron makatabang sa mga bata sa ilang pagbangon (It inspires us, as CSWDO workers, to create more activities like this to aid the children in their recovery),” she added.

She said Balay Dangupan continues to offer a comprehensive support system that includes temporary shelter, psychosocial interventions, spiritual services, court mitigation, practical skills development, and educational assistance.

In line with its educational support programs, the facility has forged partnerships with San Isidro Elementary School and Emilio Ramos National High School, where teachers regularly visit to provide classes.

Cabahug also said that this year, they saw the reintegration of 12 children back to their families. CIO

DSWD PRESS RELEASE: DSWD's 4Ps eyes ‘inflation-adjusted’ cash grants

The Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) continues to engage with economic managers and legislators to study the possibility of increasing the cash grants of 4Ps beneficiaries in order to address the impacts of inflation.

“Yung sa adjustments naman ng cash grants, patuloy pa rin naman yung pag-aaral at tinitignan din natin kung magkano nga ba yung pwedeng i-angat. Kapagka po may resulta na itong pag-aaral na ito, atin pong i-aannounce yung adjustment sa cash grants,” Division Chief (DC) Marie Grace Ponce of the 4Ps Social Marketing Division (SMD) said during the May 21 episode of the DSWD’s online program, “4Ps Fastbreak.”

The Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) has assured senior citizens that Senior IDs issued in 2022 and earlier will still be valid for receiving subsidies.

OSCA Head Lorenzo Borja told the City Information Office that while seniors are encouraged to update their IDs, those who have not yet done it will still receive financial assistance this year.

He clarified, however, that all senior citizens must possess a valid OSCA ID to qualify for the annual subsidy. The cut-off date for this year’s subsidy registration is set on May 31, meaning individuals who turn 60 in June 2025 will only be eligible to receive their subsidy in 2026.

To facilitate ID updates, OSCA teams are actively coordinating with the barangays, People’s Organizations, and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) to reach out to elderly individuals who may struggle to visit the office.

CSWDO Head Julie Dayaday earlier said that updating the IDs is part of the effort to unify the city’s senior citizen master list as separate lists from different agencies earlier led to discrepancies in the data.

She said that they are currently updating their records because the previous system lacked a unified, data-based approach.

“Kay to'ng una, kung kinsa tong myembro sa association among i-masterlist, medyo nakita namo nga dili unified ang data. Updating kasi si OSCA karon sa ilahang data kay naa paman gyo’y karaan kaayo unya wala paman ta naka data-based atong unang panahona (Previously, we observed that the data was not unified because people who are members of the association are already included in the master list. OSCA is currently updating their data since some people still have extremely old IDs and we weren't previously data-based,),” she said. CIO
