Like Icarus who soared too close to the sun, the DDC Lady Vipers flew high, but fell short as they settled for a humbling yet commendable 4th place finish in the 1st Davao Colleges and Universities Network, Inc. (DACUN) Sportsfest, last May 25 at the Philippine Women's College Pavilion.
Despite limited preparation time during finals week of the academic year, the Lady Vipers showed resilience and managed to sneak in a commendable 4th place finish, narrowly missing the podium after a close seesaw battle against the Rizal Memorial College (RMC) Lady Bulldogs.
"𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘸𝘦 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘵" said Vipers coach, Dr. Carla Angeline Pilapil. Even without a podium finish, the Lady Vipers played with their heart and exhibited their sizzling spikes and tenacious defense, with hard hitters like team captain Hanna Mae Ortiz, and wing spiker Andrea Carteciano, who delivered numerous nerve-wracking attacks to devastate RMC's iron wall of defense.
