This Media Information Literacy Week, we are reminded of our role as responsible digital citizens who use media ethically, verify facts before sharing, and uphold truth in an age of misinformation.

Responsible media use starts with awareness and ends with action. Letโ€™s make it our mission to stay informed, to analyze before we amplify, and to engage thoughtfully in the digital space. Because in a world full of noise, media literacy is our filter for truth.

In collaboration with and spearheaded by the officers of the Council of Deans, Heads, and Coordinators of Health-Related Programs of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CDHCโ€“CHEDRO XI), the relief goods prepared and loaded earlier by selected student leaders and staff of Davao Doctors College (DDC) have successfully arrived in Davao Oriental on the same day, October 21, 2025.

Dropped off in Mati Doctors College, Davao Oriental State University, and Mati Polytechnic College, the DDC Tinabangay: Davao Doctors College, Inc. Donation Drive has successfully fulfilled its purpose, delivering much-needed aid to the quake victims in the area. This initiative was made possible through the collective efforts of the DDC Vipers Community, whose unity and compassion brought relief to those affected.

Aiming to speed up the delivery of relief goods bound for Davao Oriental, selected student leaders from Davao Doctors College (DDC) volunteered in the preparation and loading of donations under the DDC Tinabangay: Davao Doctors College, Inc. Donation Drive early this morning, October 21, 2025.

In a joint initiative between the DDC Tinabangay and the Council of Deans, Heads, and Coordinators of Health-Related Programs of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CDHCโ€“CHEDRO XI), representatives from the Supreme Student Council (SSC), Radiologic Technology Studentsโ€™ Organization (RTSO), and The Clarion, together with selected institution staff, participated in facilitating the loading of relief goods at the CHED Regional Office XI premises.

Did you know that in the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) reported about 179,227 cases of influenzaโ€‘like illnesses (ILI) in 2024 โ€” a 17% drop from the year before?

But donโ€™t get too comfortable: the traditional โ€œflu seasonโ€ (roughly June to November, during rainy and cool months) still brings a rise in coughs, colds and feverโ€‘type illnesses. That means now is a smart time for the flu shot, good hand hygiene, staying home when sick and skipping crowded events โ€” especially if youโ€™re in a highโ€‘risk group like kids, the elderly or immunocompromised.

Amidst the flu season, it is important to keep in mind: prevention is better than cure!

In a memorandum issued by the Davao Doctors College (DDC) administration, the school will continue to implement a modified modality for the classes from October 20 to 25, 2025.

The Senior High School Department will continue to implement online classes until further notice, in compliance with the directives of the Department of Education (DepED).

College and graduate programs will conduct online lecture classes, while laboratory classes will be held on-site. Internship programs will continue to be held on-site, following the policies and protocols of their respective affiliation centers.

Employees are expected to report on-site and adhere to their regular working hours.

Regular onsite classes will resume on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Davao Doctors College (DDC) Doctor of Optometry Program has produced 36 newly registered Doctors in the recently concluded October 2025 Optometrist Licensure Examination (OLE), achieving an impressive 100% passing rate for first-time takers, surpassing the 94.70% national passing rate.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), DDC also earned the top-performing school distinction in the 35โ€“49 examinees category after recording a perfect 100% overall passing rateโ€”a testament to its enduring tradition of academic excellence and commitment to producing competent professionals in the field.

Not all wounds are visible. Some lives in silence, in memories, and in the weight we carry every day.

This World Trauma Day, let us take a moment to honor the strength it takes to keep going. Healing isnโ€™t linearโ€”it comes slowly, in pauses, in the smallest acts of care. Some days you rise, other days you barely make it through. And yet, in every breath, in every small choice to keep trying, there is courage.

May we learn to honor the parts of ourselves that are hidden, to be gentle with what still aches, and to remember that even the smallest steps of healing is still healing.
