๐—ก๐—˜๐—ช๐—ฆ: Pagpapatibay sa Diwa ng Pagbasa: LGSNHS Ipinagdiwang ang Makulay na Reading Month Culmination

Matagumpay na ipinagdiwang ng Leon Garcia Sr. National High School ang Culmination Program ng Reading Month na may temang "Bridging the Gap for a Better Future through Reading". Isang araw na puno ng mga makulay na pagtatanghal at exhibit ang nagbigay-diin sa kahalagahan ng pagbabasa bilang susi sa mas maliwanag na kinabukasan at pag-angat ng kultura ng pagkatuto sa paaralan.

Sa pambungad pa lamang, binigyang-linaw ng mga tagapag-organisa na ang Reading Month ay hindi lamang selebrasyon kundi paalala na ang pagbabasa ay susi sa paghubog ng kritikal na pag-iisip, mas malawak na paningin, at mas matibay na pangarap para sa kabataan. Mula dito, sunod-sunod na ipinakita ang mga gawaing nakatuon sa pagbasa at pag-unawa.

Isa sa pinakatampok ay ang Grand Parade of Book Characters, isang tradisyon na hindi lamang nagpapakita ng makukulay na kasuotan kundi ng koneksyon ng mga mag-aaral sa mga aklat na kanilang binasa. Habang naglalakad ang mga kalahok, bawat karakter ay nagsilbing paalala na sa likod ng bawat kasuotan ay isang kwento, isang ideya, at isang aral na nakuha mula sa pagbabasa. Maging ilang g**o ay sumama rin sa parade, simbolo ng kanilang suporta sa pagpapalaganap ng pagbabasa sa loob at labas ng silid-aralan.

Kasunod nito ang mga pagtatanghal mula sa iba't ibang baitang gaya ng speechcraft, jazz chants, spoken poetry, readersโ€™ theatre, at speech choir. Sa makulay at masiglang pagtatanghal ng pagkamalikhain, matagumpay na ginanap noong Disyembre 3, 2025 ang SHS Big Book Exhibit sa Leon Garcia Sr. National High School (LGSNHS). Isa itong proyekto ng Senior High School Department na naglalayong isulong ang kultura ng pagbabasa at pagpapahayag sa pamamagitan ng malikhaing literatura. Ang exhibit, na ginanap sa SHS lobby, ay dinagsa ng mga g**o at mag-aaral na sabik masaksihan ang natatanging galing at imahinasyong taglay ng kabataang manlilikha.

Tampok sa nasabing aktibidad ang malalaki at masining na aklat na likha ng mga SHS students mula sa ibaโ€™t ibang strand. Bawat big book ay dumaan sa masusing prosesoโ€”mula sa konseptuwalisasyon at pagsusuri ng kuwento, hanggang sa pagdidisenyo at paglalapat ng makukulay na ilustrasyon. Makikita sa bawat pahina ang pagsisikap at pagsasanib ng talento sa sining, wika, at malikhaing pag-iisip, na lalong nagpapatunay sa kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral.

Isa sa mga pinakaaabangang bahagi ng exhibit ang pagbisita at aktibong pakikilahok ng mga mag-aaral sa Grade 7, na inimbitahang maging mga young readers ng mga big book. Nakilahok sila bitbit ang kanilang kuryosidad habang isa-isang binubuklat ang mga aklat. Sa bawat pahinang kanilang natutuklasan, maririnig ang bulong ng paghanga, masayang tawanan, at minsan ay mga simpleng tanong na nagpapakita ng kanilang pag-unawa at interes. Makikita sa kanyang ngiti at paraan ng pagsabi na tunay siyang nahikayat ng exhibit na pahalagahan ang pagbabasa.

Ayon kay Ginoong Arlington Vidal, layunin ng aktibidad na โ€œmuling hikayatin ang mga mag-aaral na mahalin ang pagbabasa ng mga aklat.โ€ Dagdag pa niya, โ€œIto rin ang output ng mga mag-aaral sa Filipino 2 upang ipamalas ang kanilang natutuhan sa aralin ng Pagbasa.โ€ Ang proyekto ay hindi lamang tungkol sa paggawa ng libro kundi tungkol sa pagbabahagiโ€”ng talento, imahinasyon, at kaalaman ng mga mag-aaral.

Nagbigay rin ng maikling mensahe si Allison Reyes, isang SHS student mula sa Grade 11โ€“Pearl at isa sa mga punong abala sa nasabing aktibidad. Ayon sa kaniya, malaking bahagi ng kaniyang motibasyon ang kaalamang may mas batang mag-aaral na magbabasa at makikinabang sa kanilang nilikha. โ€œNakakatuwa silang tignan kapag nakikita ko silang nagbabasa at naglilibot. Ang paggawa ng big book ay hindi madaliโ€”it takes time and effort. At masaya ako dahil may nakaka-appreciate sa ginawa namin,โ€ ani niya.

Sa kabuuan, ang SHS Big Book Exhibit 2025 ay hindi lamang isang showcase ng talento kundi isang selebrasyon ng koneksyon, paglikha, at pagkatuto. Itoโ€™y nag-iwan ng inspirasyon sa bawat bumisitaโ€”mag-aaral man, g**o, o panauhinโ€”na ang bawat kuwento, gaano man kaliit o kalaki, ay may kapangyarihang magbukas ng isipan, magpagising ng imahinasyon, at magbigay-liwanag sa mga batang mambabasa.

Sa isang mundong mabilis ang takbo, muli nitong pinukaw ang komunidad ng paaralan na ang pagbabasa at pagsulat ay mananatiling pundasyon ng pagkatutoโ€”at ang mga kabataang tulad ng mga SHS students ay mahalagang bahagi ng patuloy na paghubog sa kultura ng literasiya. Sa kanilang malikhaing ideya, kagalingan, at aktibong pakikilahok, naipapakita nila na ang kaalaman ay hindi lamang natututuhan sa loob ng silid-aralan kundi isang buhay na karanasan na maaaring ibahagi, ipakita, at pagyamanin sa buong komunidad.

Leon Garcia Sr. National High School marked the vibrant culmination of Filipino Values Month on November 28, 2025, at the school grounds, celebrating the theme โ€œKagandahang-Loob, Katotohanan, at Bayanihan: Pundasyon ng Makabuluhang Pagkatuto at Matatag na Sambayanan.โ€ The event, hosted by Alexa Gail Locsin and Bernadeth Mariano, set an energetic and joyful atmosphere as students showcased various performances, including a colorful display of Mindanaoโ€™s tribal clothing (katutubong kasuotan) that highlighted the richness of Filipino culture and values.

The program began with a soulful presentation from the selected student from the Grade 7 curriculum followed by a heartfelt prayer led by Rupert Emmanuel Orit. Students and staffs sang the national anthem guided by Jerymie Alindao the SHS Board Member of the ESP-VE Club. The opening speech was delivered by Ma'am Madelene G. Jaspe, inspiring everyone to reflect on the importance of Filipino Values.

Learners from different grade levels are preparing with their performances while the hosts are introducing the judges for the traditional attire competition: Maโ€™am Zeneth N. Yucor, Sir Vincie C. Lusadio, and Maโ€™am Armida A. Bioco. After the introductions, the Grade 7 Curriculum students performed a lively song with their cheerful voices, filling the venue with energy and excitement.

Selected students from Grade 7 and Grade 8 showed their traditional attire with lively introductions that wowed the audience with their confidence. After that, students from Grade 11-Pearl performed a tutting dance that captivated the audience with their flawless performance.

The Grade 8 Curriculum performed a Katutubong Sayaw, followed by representatives from Grades 9, 10, and 11 showcasing their traditional attire with lively introductions that captured the audienceโ€™s attention.

The program continued with the special recognition that is awarded by Sir Lusadio, where Sir Abelardo Posadas was recognized for his 30 years of dedicated service. After the awards, students enjoyed fun trivia games. The celebration also featured exciting performances, including Grade 9โ€™s presentation, Grade 10 Aguinaldoโ€™s โ€˜Fiesta sa Nayon,โ€™ and a cultural dance from Grade 10 Luna.

Maโ€™am Jaspe praised the EsP Officers for their dedication and hard work in decorating the venue and helping organize the program, making the event a big success. The celebration continued with the exciting announcement of the winners of the Traditional Attire Competition: Grade 7 โ€“ Dame de Noche, Grade 8 โ€“ Durian, Grade 9 โ€“ Lawaan, Grade 10 โ€“ Jacinto, and Grade 11 โ€“ Pearl.

After announcing the winners, students from Grade 10 Jacinto and Grade 10 Bonifacio faced off in a FlipTop battle on the topic "Noon vs. Ngayon". Each section showcased their skills in rebutting, impressing the audience with their quick thinking and creativity.

The hosts announced all the winners of the various competitions held during Filipino Values Month and gave special recognition to the teachers for their hard work and support.

The culmination program concluded with a closing prayer led by Maโ€™am Daanton, leaving students and staffs inspired and proud of their cultural heritage and academic accomplishments. The event successfully highlighted the schoolโ€™s commitment to instilling Filipino values while celebrating the talents and achievements of its students.
