𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: 𝐀𝐑𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟏𝟔𝟓 𝐋𝐆𝐒𝐍𝐇𝐒 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬

Championing fundamental literacy and academic recovery, Leon Garcia Sr. National High School (LGSNHS) has empowered 165 Junior High School learners through targeted Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) interventions, elevating both basic reading skills and comprehension across the campus.

The nationwide initiative focuses on critical foundational skills, prioritizing two main groups of learners: those who can read aloud but struggle with comprehension, and those who have difficulty reading basic texts.

"The salient thing that we can incorporate for our beneficiaries is to really enhance the reading capacity of our learners—not just in oral reading, but especially in reading comprehension," declared ARAL Program Coordinator Gleen Mark I. Sadili.

To ensure regular classes remain uninterrupted, remedy sessions were conducted from 3:10 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Fridays were dedicated to evaluation and tutor preparation.

Out of a student population exceeding 1,000, the 165 beneficiaries were identified and submitted for the first term of the intervention process. Despite resource constraints, the program adapted swiftly to meet learner needs.

"Based on the critique of tutors, the provided manual is not compatible for learners," Sadili added. "So that's why I prepared improvised, personalized, and localized forms of interventions."

We proudly recognize the LGSNHS campus journalists who stepped up to the challenge during the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) 2026, held last September 9–13 and 19 at DRANHS.

A special note of congratulations goes to our writer who made it to the Final Round, finishing in the Top 16 for Pagsulat ng Lathalain. This milestone is a true mark of their journalistic excellence.

To our entire delegation, thank you for representing LGSNHS with such dedication and hard work. It takes a great deal of courage to compete and share your voices on a wider stage. We are incredibly proud of the effort you showed throughout the competition.

The spirit of sportsmanship, teamwork and excellence takes center stage as Leon Garcia Sr. National High School opens Unit II Meet 2026 today, September 7.

Athletes from various events proudly showcase their skills, discipline and determination, making the opening a celebration of athletic talent and camaraderie.

The competition was conducted as part of “𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛'𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗜𝗖𝗘: 𝗔 𝗗𝗥𝗨𝗚-𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘," an engagement program spearheaded by the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗗𝗜𝗟𝗚) 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗫𝗜, in partnership with the 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗘𝗱) 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗫𝗜. The initiative aims to strengthen anti-illegal drug advocacy through youth-led initiatives, community mobilization, and multi-sectoral collaboration. It also featured the Short Film Making Competition, highlighting the creativity and commitment of participating schools across the region.

This achievement reflects the dedication, teamwork, and creativity of our student participants and the steadfast guidance of their coach. Their success serves as an inspiration to the entire school community, demonstrating how young people can use their talents to champion positive values and contribute to building a safer, healthier, and drug-free society.
