FROM THE COUNCIL DESK | New Area Chairpersons Take Oath for BSP-Davao City Council

Councilors Hon. Ragde Niño P. Ibuyan and Hon. Lorenzo Benjamin “Enzo” Villafuerte formally took their oath as the newly designated Area Chairpersons of their respective Area Scouting Committees during the Regular Local Council Executive Board Meeting held on July 19, 2025.

Hon. Ibuyan now serves as the Chairperson for Area 1, while Hon. Villafuerte assumes leadership for Area 6. Their oaths were administered by Council Chairperson Atty. Wendel E. Avisado, in the presence of the full Local Council Executive Board.

The ceremony highlighted the Council’s commitment to strengthening its grassroots leadership and enhancing the delivery of the Scouting program across all areas. With the active involvement of young leaders from the city’s legislative body, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Davao City Council continues to uphold its mission of molding future-ready youth through dynamic and community-rooted leadership.

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 𝑭𝑹𝑶𝑴 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑭𝑰𝑬𝑳𝑫 | Calinan NHS Scouts Conduct Community Clean-Up for BSP Anniversary

Senior Scouts and Unit Leaders from the Calinan National High School Scouting Unit actively participated in the Simultaneous Scouts Community Clean-Up Drive on July 12, 2025, in line with the 60th Founding Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Davao City Council.

The scouts carried out clean-up activities within and around their school grounds, focusing on proper waste collection and general sanitation. The initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness, discipline, and civic responsibility among participating youth.

The school’s scout leaders commended the scouts for their cooperation, teamwork, and commitment to community service. The activity was conducted in accordance with the BSP Safeguarding Policy, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

Calinan NHS joins other schools and scouting units across Davao City in contributing to this council-wide effort to mark six decades of scouting service and youth development.

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 𝑭𝑹𝑶𝑴 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑭𝑰𝑬𝑳𝑫 | Jose Bastida Elementary School Scouts Launch School Year with Tree Planting Activity

Boy Scouts from Jose Bastida Elementary School kicked off their official activities for the school year with a Tree Planting Activity held on the morning of July 12, 2025, in observance of the 60th Founding Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Davao City Council.

The activity was conducted as part of the School Community Project Day, a citywide initiative aligned with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Council. Scouts planted trees within and around the school grounds, with the goal of contributing to environmental sustainability and promoting the value of community service.

The event was led with the support of Principal Maria H. Latiada, EdD, who also serves as School Commissioner. Assistant Principal and District BSP Coordinating Principal Joel P. Salindato, Jr. was present to show support and reinforce the school’s commitment to the scouting program.

Class advisers, Unit Leaders, and co-implementers Scouter Vidi R. Refuerzo and Scouter Glenn L. Dino helped facilitate the activity. Parents and guardians also took part by encouraging scout participation.

School officials described the event as a successful demonstration of the scouts’ dedication to environmental awareness and active citizenship. Organizers confirmed that the activity followed the Safeguarding Policy of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants.

The initiative is among several school-level contributions to the Council’s ongoing celebration, aimed at promoting civic values, ecological responsibility, and youth engagement throughout Davao City.

As part of the Simultaneous Scouts Community Service Day, the Boy Scouts and Unit Leaders of Davao City Special School conducted a clean-up drive on their school campus on July 12, 2025. The activity was held in line with the 60th Founding Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Davao City Council.

The initiative focused on open areas, pathways, and other parts of the school grounds. It aimed to instill a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and environmental awareness among the scouts while contributing to the overall cleanliness and orderliness of the school.

Scout leaders said the activity also served as an opportunity to reinforce the values of public service and community involvement among the youth. Boy Scouts and their Troop Leaders from Daniel M. Perez Central Elementary School of Bunawan District took part in “Seed of Change: Climate Action & Reforestation” on July 12, 2025. The initiative was organized by the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Bunawan Proper as part of its ongoing environmental programs.

The activity coincided with the Simultaneous Scouts Community Service Day, held in observance of the 60th Founding Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Davao City Council.

Scouts participated in tree planting and related environmental tasks aimed at promoting sustainability and awareness of climate issues at the community level. The event served as a platform for youth involvement in climate action and reinforced the Scouts’ commitment to community service.

Organizers confirmed that the activity was conducted in full compliance with the Safeguarding Policy of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 𝑭𝑹𝑶𝑴 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑭𝑰𝑬𝑳𝑫 | Daliaon District Holds BSP Jubilee Screening and Talent Showcase

As part of the 60th Founding Anniversary celebration of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Davao City Council, the Daliaon District Scouting Committee held the BSP Jubilee Screening and Talent Showcase on July 11, 2025, at Ramon F. Magsaysay Elementary School in Daliaon District.

Scout leaders and scouts from five schools under Daliaon District participated in the event, which featured a range of district-level competitions. Activities included the “Scout Got Talent” showcase, a poster-making contest, and fancy drills performed by KAB Scouts and Boy Scouts.

The winners from each category will advance to represent the Daliaon District in the citywide competitions organized by the BSP Davao City Council.

According to organizers, the event was designed to engage young scouts in creative, values-driven activities while supporting the council’s Diamond Jubilee celebration. The Daliaon District continues to actively contribute to the overall goal of fostering leadership, discipline, and civic responsibility among the youth through Scouting.

𝑵𝑬𝑾𝑺 𝑭𝑹𝑶𝑴 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑭𝑰𝑬𝑳𝑫 | Artemio Loyola Elementary School Joins 60th BSP Anniversary with Flag-Raising and Clean-Up Drive

Artemio Loyola Elementary School (ALES) of Piedad District participated in the Simultaneous Flag Raising Ceremony on July 11, 2025, in observance of the 60th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (1965–2025), also known as the Diamond Jubilee. The activity was part of a citywide celebration organized by the BSP Davao City Council.

On the same day, ALES Boy Scouts led a school-based clean-up drive, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility. The activity was spearheaded by the ALES Malinis SELG Officers, who mobilized their fellow scouts to clean and maintain the school grounds.

The event aimed to promote patriotism, civic engagement, and environmental awareness among young scouts. School officials expressed their support for the initiative and commended the scouts for their discipline and leadership in organizing the clean-up activity.

The school’s participation reflected its continued support for the values and programs of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.
