DOKYUPI will feature films of different genres and stories close to the hearts of the BACMA seniors. This event is the final requirement for the production course CMA 198 Documentary Filmmaking.

We are delighted to welcome the sixth chancellor of UP Mindanao, Professor Lyre Anni E. Murao!

Today, 1st of March 2022, marks her first day of office bringing the vision of Respect and Integrity, Academic Freedom and Accountability, Inclusivity and Collective significance, Social responsibility, and Excellence (RAISE).

As the newly appointed chancellor, she aims to advance a “proactive response to the changing times and prepares UP Mindanao for a journey to another phase of evolution towards transformative education”.

We look forward to being with you in this transformative journey, Chancellor Lyre!

"Isolation” is a short film entry to the ongoing Mindanao Film Festival on 06-13 December 2021; it is directed by Edwin David Priete, a UP Mindanao BA Communication and Media Arts (BACMA) student and rising Davao filmmaker. The film portrays how COVID-19 patients suffer mentally, not just physically.

“Isolation” is vying for the top prize as one of the Official Selection Films for the Main Competition at the 19th Mindanao Film Festival (MFF), which will be out from December 6 to 13, 2021 for streaming on MMF’s Official YouTube Channel (youtube.com/c/MindanaoFilmFestival). “With a mobile phone and a little bit of insanity, we were able to capture how some COVID-19-positive patients may feel when they have to spend 2 weeks in a facility: the days start to blend as if you were stuck in a loop, each longer than the last, and the 14th day feels like it may never arrive,” Priete said.

The UP Mindanao BACMA program shapes its students' skills in spoken and written communication arts, the tri-media arts of journalism and mass communication, the new media, and communications research. Students have organized conferences and workshops with students from other schools, undertaken public health campaigns, and have won awards for integrated marketing communications.
