Para sa mga nagtatanong kung bakit daw nakakastress ang COT o demo teaching, eh araw-araw naman daw nagtuturo ang teachers at parte na raw โ€™yan ng trabahoโ€”eto ang sagot.

Magkaiba ang regular na klase at COT.
Sa normal na pagtuturo, may flexibility ka. Kapag hindi natapos ang lesson ngayon, pwede mong ituloy sa next meeting. Kapag may mga batang nahihirapan, may panahon ka para balikan at tutukan sila.

Pero sa COT, ibang usapan na talaga.

Sa loob ng 45 minutes to 1 hour, kailangan mong ipakita lahat. Hindi pwedeng kulang.
Ang lesson mo dapat well-planned, aligned sa standards, at gumagamit ng research-based strategies. Kung English ang subject mo, hindi lang basta discussionโ€”dapat may connections pa sa ibang learning areas tulad ng Science o Values.

Sa simula pa lang ng klase, dapat engaged na ang lahat.
Hindi pwedeng may naiiwan.
Kailangan mong gumamit ng creative motivationโ€”pwedeng games, stories, or activities na talagang magigising ang isip ng mga bata.

Required din ang ICT integration.
May presentation, videos, or digital materials para mas malinaw at mas interactive ang lesson.

Sa assessment naman, hindi lang isang type.
Dapat may:
โ€ข checks habang nagtuturo ka (formative)
โ€ข group or peer checking
โ€ข self-assessment ng learners
โ€ข at final output para makita kung may natutunan talaga

Importante rin na tugma ang objectives, strategies, at assessments.
Kapag hindi aligned ang mga โ€™yan, delikado ang score mo. Kaya sa paggawa pa lang ng lesson plan, ubos na ang oras at brain power mo.
Yes, may ready-made lessons, pero maraming teachers pa rin ang mas pinipiling gumawa ng sarili para siguradong swak sa klase nila.

Dapat aktibo ang lahat ng learners, at iba-iba ang activities para ma-address ang differences ng students.
Lahat ng activities may rubrics, at kailangan mo pang ipaliwanag โ€™yan sa mga bata para alam nila kung paano sila susukatin.
Kaya kapag tahimik ang klase o konti ang sumasagot, grabe na agad ang kaba ng teacher.

Target din na karamihan ng learners ay maka-achieve ng objectives.
Ang remediation ay para na lang sa iilan na kailangan pa ng dagdag na tulong.

Lahat ng expectations na โ€™to, kailangan mong maipakita sa isang oras lang.
At kapag hindi mo na-meet ang standards, possible na maapektuhan ang rating mo at ang chances mo sa promotion.

Kaya sana mas maintindihan ng iba na ang COT ay hindi basta simpleng pagtuturo.
Isa itong highly structured, time-pressured, at mentally exhausting na proseso na sinusukat hindi lang ang lesson, kundi ang buong teaching competence mo.

The news of a teacher dying in the middle of a classroom observation is painful and disturbing. A teacher entered the classroom to do what was required, ๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ต, ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ, ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—บ๐—ฝ๐—น๐˜†. She was brought to the hospital, but she did not survive. A life dedicated to education ended while fulfilling a mandate.

This incident forces us to pause and ask difficult questions.

Teachers are not machines. They are human beings with limits, fears, and health concerns. Yet, ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜† ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—ฝ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐˜๐—ผ ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ณ๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—บ ๐˜‚๐—ป๐—ฑ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ถ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜€๐—ฒ ๐—ฝ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฒโ€”deadlines, paperwork, observations, and constant monitoringโ€”often without regard for their physical and emotional well-being.

Classroom observation is meant to improve teaching. It is meant to guide, not to intimidate. The passing of a teacher during an observation reveals a deeper problem in the system. Policies may look good on paper, but their impact on real people is often ignored. When rules are followed without compassion, they can harm the very people they are supposed to support.

Teaching is already emotionally demanding. Teachers carry the weight of their studentsโ€™ futures while balancing their own struggles. Adding excessive pressure without proper support is dangerous.

This tragedy should not be forgotten. It should be a wake-up call.

The Most โ€œInnocentโ€ Paper Ever Made.

They call it a rating sheet, malinis, tahimik, mukhang harmless. Isang papel lang daw. Pero para sa maraming g**o, ito ang pinaka-โ€œinnocentโ€ na papel na may pinakamasamang epekto. One classroom observation. One sitting. One checklist. And just like that, your 180โ€“200 days of sacrifice are compressed into boxes, numbers and checkmarks.

For teachers, this paper does not simply evaluate performance. It silently interrogates their worth. Habang kalmado ang observers, composed at relaxed, ang g**o ay nanginginig sa loob, teaching while managing fear, anxiety and pressure. Every gesture feels rehearsed. Every word feels risky. Hindi ka lang nagtuturo; you are performing under judgment.

Ang mas masakit, this paper has no memory. Hindi nito naaalala ang mga gabing walang tulog sa paggawa ng lesson plans, ang sariling pera na ginastos para sa classroom, ang pagod, sakit at personal na pinagdadaanan na isinantabi para lang sa mga bata. This paper does not see the teacher who keeps showing up kahit ubos na.

At sa isang g**o, this โ€œinnocentโ€ paper became too much. A life was lost, not because of lack of skill, but because of unbearable pressure. Dahil sa sistemang mas naniniwala sa isang oras na observation kaysa sa isang buong taong serbisyo. Hindi lahat ng g**o ay pare-pareho ang lakas ng loob. Hindi lahat kayang buhatin ang ganitong bigat.

So we must ask: evaluation ba ito, o quiet cruelty? Bakit isang araw lang ang basehan ng isang taon? What if, tulad sa higher education, students, na araw-araw nakakasama ng g**o, ang may boses sa evaluation? Mas makatao. Mas makatarungan. Mas totoo.

This paper should never cost a life. Ang evaluation ay dapat gumabay, hindi manakot. Dahil sa likod ng bawat form, may taong napapagod at minsan, tahimik nang bumibigay.
