RE: SUPPORT FOR THE “DUGONG BOMBO 2025” BLOOD DONATION PROGRAM
Peace in the Lord!
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has expressed its full support for the nationwide blood donation program of Bombo Radyo Philippines, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, entitled “Dugong Bombo 2025: A Little Pain... A Life to Gain.”
This life-saving activity will be conducted simultaneously in key cities across the country on 15 November 2025.
In line with this appeal and its noble objective, I am happy to enjoin all our parishes, chapels, religious communities, and Catholic institutions in the Archdiocese of Davao to support and actively promote this initiative. We are encouraged to invite our faithful to participate as voluntary blood donors, and to help share the advocacy through parish announcements and social media posts in the days prior to the event.
“Dugong Bombo” has become one of the country’s most consistent bloodletting undertakings, embodying our Christian values of charity, compassion, and solidarity—virtues that we are continually called to witness in our daily life. Each drop of blood donated becomes a concrete act of love for our neighbors, echoing the Lord’s words:
“Greater love has no one than this,
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13).
Let us unite in prayer and action with the organizers and partners of this program in their mission to save lives and bring hope, especially as we continue to journey through this Jubilee Year of Hope.
Thank you very much for your kind cooperation. May the Lord bless our efforts to serve and care for one another.
Devotedly yours in Christ,
✠ ROMULO G. VALLES, D.D.
