𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐭 𝐙𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐡 | September 6th

“Return to me, says the Lord of hosts, and I will return to you.” (Zechariah 1:3)

The Prophet Zechariah, whose name means “God remembers,” lived in the 6th century BC during the return of Israel from Babylonian exile. A priestly prophet, he urged the people to rebuild the Temple and assured them of God’s presence and blessing. His visions spoke of restoration, hope, and the coming of the Messiah.

Zechariah foretold the arrival of a humble king—fulfilled when Christ entered Jerusalem on a donkey. His prophecies remain among the most messianic of the Old Testament, pointing clearly to Jesus as Savior and Lord.

Prophet Zechariah, strengthen our faith and help us recognize the Lord’s presence in our lives.

Luke 6:3-5: Jesus said to them in reply, "Have you not read what David did when he and those who were with him were hungry? How he went into the house of God, took the bread of offering, which only the priests could lawfully eat, ate of it, and shared it with his companions." Then he said to them, "The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath."

Reflection: Christ came to bring complete love for His people. As we follow Christ, we are not called to have a heart that counts the cost, but rather a heart filled with unconditional and boundless love.

Pray: Lord, purify my heart and be my powerful protector against the snares of the enemy. Amen.

Act: Be merciful to others.

𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐚 | September 5th

“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”

Saint Teresa of Calcutta (1910–1997), known worldwide as Mother Teresa, dedicated her life to serving “the poorest of the poor.” Born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in Skopje, she joined the Sisters of Loreto before receiving her “call within a call” to found the Missionaries of Charity. With a simple white sari bordered in blue, she and her sisters brought Christ’s love to the sick, abandoned, and dying.

Her mission grew from the slums of Calcutta to over 120 countries, embodying God’s mercy in action. Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979, she remains a powerful witness of charity, humility, and service. Canonized in 2016, her life continues to inspire countless people to recognize Christ in the suffering and forgotten.

Saint Teresa of Calcutta, teach us to love Jesus in the disguise of the poor and to serve with joy.

𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚 | September 4th

“I, Rosalia… have taken the resolution to live in this cave for the love of my Lord, Jesus Christ.”

Saint Rosalia (1130–1166), a noblewoman of Palermo, chose solitude and prayer over earthly honor. She withdrew to Mount Pellegrino as a hermit, devoting her life to God in silence and sacrifice. Centuries later, during a plague in 1624, she appeared to the people of Palermo, leading them to her relics and interceding for their healing. The city was freed from the plague, and she has since been venerated as its beloved patroness.

Her life reminds us that holiness often flourishes in hidden places, and that God can raise up protectors for His people in times of trial. Today she is invoked not only against plagues and pandemics but also as a witness of purity, faith, and unwavering devotion to Christ.

Saint Rosalia, pray for us, and protect our communities in times of trial and need.

Luke 5:8-11: When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him, and likewise James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners of Simon.

Reflection: We too must know that we are unworthy sinners. However, concentrating too much on our sinfulness and weaknesses can lead to discouragement. Instead, we need to be like Peter by bringing our weaknesses to Jesus, so that he can also tell us “do not be afraid, from now on you will be catching men”.

Pray: Lord, let me see my weaknesses and come to my aid. Amen.

Act: Be faithful.
