WANDERLUST | Award-Winning Photographer Rhonson Ng Debuts Visual Tribute to Indigenous Communities
Picturebooks, a well-established Manila-based custom photo book printing company, officially launched "Vanishing Frames: Faces of the Archipelago," the latest visual masterpiece by multi-awarded Davao City-based photographer Rhonson Ng on June 5, Friday, at the PictureBooks Booth of the 33rd Philippine Travel Tour Expo, held at the SMX Convention Center Davao.
The 60-page coffee table book features nearly a hundred vivid images of various Philippine indigenous communities, documenting Ng’s extensive travels from Batanes in the far north to Tawi-Tawi in the deep south. This collection represents his many years of dedicated travel and documentation across the archipelago, capturing faces, rich cultures, traditions, and lived realities of diverse tribal groups.
More than just a compilation of stunning photography, "Vanishing Frames" serves as a visual record of a cultural heritage that is slowly disappearing under the pressures of modernization, displacement, and shifting social landscapes.
The milestone event drew support from key tourism and industry leaders, including Department of Tourism XI Regional Director Tanya Rabat Tan, Philippine Airlines Mindanao Sales Head Paolo Diaz de Rivera, Sta. Cruz Municipal Tourism Officer Julius Paner, and Nitz Volante and Cris Cleofas of PictureBooks, who all gathered alongside Ng’s fellow photographers to celebrate the book's release.
For those interested in acquiring a piece of this cultural preservation, copies of "Vanishing Frames: Faces of the Archipelago" are now available for purchase online through Picturebooks.com.ph.
