SENDING LOVE FROM SPACE 🌌🖤

This month of love, the European Space Agency (ESA) brings us a cosmic celebration of love through heart-shaped formations from space.

One of them is IC 1805, the Heart Nebula, where a vast region of gas and dust glows with the radiation of an open cluster of newly formed stars.

Send this to someone you love!

📍 Surigao del Sur

Surigao del Sur is a hidden gem in Mindanao, offering breathtaking natural attractions that make it a must-visit destination. Among its top spots, Enchanted River is a deep blue lagoon in Hinatuan with crystal-clear waters that seem almost magical. For island lovers, the Britania Group of Islands has pristine white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and stunning rock formations, perfect for island hopping and relaxation. Lastly, Tinuy-an Falls stands out as the “Little Niagara of the Philippines,” with its majestic three-tiered cascade and refreshing natural pools.

With its mix of waterfalls, rivers, and islands, Surigao del Sur is a paradise for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike!

📍Siquijor

Siquijor is often believed to be an island of magic and mystery. While the myths add to its charm, the island is actually a peaceful island. Recently, it has been gaining attention from both local and international tourists due to its unique, laid-back vibe. Forget the rumors—this island offers a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experience for everyone.

To reach Siquijor, most travelers fly into Dumaguete and take a short ferry ride. Ferries from nearby islands are also available. Once on the island, you can rent a motorbike or car to explore, or opt for a private tour or van rental to visit the top attractions.

Commute from Dumaguete to Siquijor:
From Dumaguete City, you can take the OceanJet fast craft to Siquijor in about 2 hours. Don’t forget to print out your ticket, as they are strict about it.

📍Negros Oriental

Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental has become a favorite for retirees and expats due to its laid-back charm. Often called the "University Town," its vibe is shaped by a large student population, giving it the feel of a college town. Dumaguete itself doesn’t have many major attractions; in fact, you can easily explore it in a day. However, its neighboring towns, like Valencia, offer exciting sights that are well worth the visit.

Commute from Bohol to Dumaguete:
From Tagbilaran, Bohol, you can take the OceanJet fast craft to Dumaguete City in about 2 hours. The fare for tourist class is ₱850.

📍Bohol

Bohol feels like a little slice of everything the Philippines has to offer. It has everything—stunning white sand beaches, colorful marine life, clear blue lagoons, waterfalls, caves, rice fields, and even old Spanish churches that tell its story. It’s the kind of place where you can explore nature and history all in one trip. Despite being a popular destination, Bohol has kept its quiet, laid-back charm, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

If you're planning a visit, I've compiled a list of reliable tour operators and some of the restaurants we dined at, so you can make the most of your trip!

📍 Davao de Oro

Davao de Oro, formerly Compostela Valley, is a province in Mindanao known for its mountainous landscapes, waterfalls, and natural resources. The province plays a key role in the region's economy, with agriculture being a primary industry—producing coconuts, bananas, and corn. It also contributes to Mindanao’s energy sector through its hydroelectric power plants.

Map of the Island of Negros in 1791 from the Archivo General de Indias. Volcán de Kanlaon was then known as Volcán de Malaspina. Mount Silay was Descubierta which means "uncovered" or "bare" while Mount Mandalagan was Atrevida which means "daring" or "bold". Bacolod was written as Bacolot, Pulupandan was Pandan, Hinigaran was Ginigaran and Himamaylan was Jimamaylan. ☺️

📍Sulu

Sulu is the heavily tattooed man covered in piercings that everyone warns you to avoid. Yet, as you get to know him, you discover he’s surprisingly gentle and just as human as the rest of us. I think you can learn from pretty much everybody if you just open your eyes.

📍Basilan

Basilan changed how I see life and taught me new things. The warmth and strength of its people showed me the value of connection and different cultures. It’s sad to see them constantly defend themselves against questions of the past. But if you ask me if it’s safe to visit Basilan now, I’d say yes without hesitation. The people here are some of the kindest and friendliest I’ve ever met & they never shy away from a camera!!!
