LOOK: Senator Christopher “Bong” Go personally visited the earthquake-stricken municipality of , Sarangani Province on June 10 to assess the situation, extend condolences to bereaved families, and provide assistance to affected residents.

Glan Mayor Tata Yap thanked the senator for being the first national government official to reach the town following the powerful June 8 earthquake, which claimed lives, injured residents, and damaged critical infrastructure, including roads and bridges.

During his visit, Go inspected evacuation areas, distributed financial and relief assistance, and emphasized the urgent need for food, clean water, fuel, and other essential supplies. He also visited the neighboring municipality of earlier in the day to deliver aid and sympathize with families of the victims.

The senator called on government officials to set aside political differences and focus on helping affected communities recover from the disaster.

“Trabaho muna tayo. Magkaisa tayo at tulungan ang ating mga kababayan,” Go said, urging fellow public servants to visit hard-hit areas and witness the situation firsthand.

Go also reiterated the importance of strengthening disaster preparedness measures, including the establishment of permanent evacuation centers and the creation of a dedicated Department of Disaster Resilience.

Authorities continue to monitor the aftermath of the powerful earthquake as affected communities across and other parts of work toward recovery.
