The group ignited tires from a trailer truck used as a barricade, threw bottles, stones, and sticks at police personnel, and set fire to an unidentified motorcycle.

🚧 SM City General Trias Breaks Ground — 8th SM Mall Rises in Cavite Province 🏙

LOOK: The landscape of General Trias, Cavite, is poised for a major transformation as construction officially begins on SM City General Trias — set to become the 8th SM mall in the province. Strategically located within the expansive SM District of RiverPark North, this upcoming retail hub is part of a master-planned township that blends residential zones, commercial establishments, and key transport infrastructures.

Positioned to be one of the largest lifestyle centers in Cavite, SM City General Trias is more than just a mall — it's envisioned as a landmark destination that will redefine urban convenience in the south. With a projected completion timeline of three to four years, the development is expected to stimulate economic activity, open thousands of job opportunities, and elevate the standard of living in the region.

As SM Prime continues to invest in growth corridors outside Metro Manila, this project reaffirms its long-term commitment to building integrated, sustainable communities.

"Abi Gyud Nako'g Mamatay Nami.”
(“I really thought we were going to die.”)

WATCH: A sudden flash flood hit the river near Mini Asik-Asik Falls in Calinan around 12:56 PM yesterday, catching visitors by surprise. In just seconds, the water surged and swept people downstream.

Janelle Kaye Santiago, who captured the incident on video, shared the terrifying moment. “Seconds lang gyud, kalit lang saka ang tubig. Mga tao naanod na. Maayo na lang abtik akong manghod.”
(“It happened in seconds—the water just rose. People were being carried away. Thankfully, my younger sibling acted fast.”)

While Santiago’s group managed to get to safety, she said at least eight others were stuck on the opposite side, unable to cross back due to the strong current. A child was seen crying, claiming their father had been swept away, although this remains unconfirmed.

Janelle and her friends are now safe and have left the area.
