IN THE NEWS | Ground Level of NCCC Mall Ma-a Set to Open in October 2025

The ground level of NCCC Mall Ma-a Branch is set to open in October 2025, according to a report published by Mindanao Times.

No less than NCCC Malls Marketing Manager Alice Romero relayed the development during a business forum held on Friday, August 1.

Mallgoers can expect an estimated 60 to 80 tenants to open their businesses in October, including major brands such as Jollibee, Kenny Rogers, and Dairy Queen.

Meanwhile, tenants occupying the upper levels are scheduled to begin operations by December 2025.

The mall will house a total of 200 tenants once it becomes fully operational.😀🛍🛒

LOOK: HOW BIG IS THIS WETLAND NEAR SM LANANG?

I was curious about the size of this marshland (or pond? swamp?😅) next to SM Lanang after taking a few snapshots of it a couple of days ago. So, I decided to check it on Google Maps -- and voila! The area it covers is comparable to that of the mall itself. 😲

However, I think a portion of this wetland has already been covered with truckloads of fill, due to ongoing construction in the area (marked in red in the image) -- the One Republic Plaza, which is said to be a 16-storey office building.

Some say this marshland should be retained, as it serves as a catch basin that helps alleviate flooding during heavy rains.

We don't know exactly how they plan to develop the area, but I think it would be wise to preserve part of it -- not just because greenery is refreshing amid the concrete jungle, but because it serves as a natural catch basin, collecting excess water during heavy rains and helping to reduce flooding in the area.
