LOOK: Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, issued an apology over the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) use of humorous social media posts when announcing class and work suspensions due to inclement weather.

In an interview with GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita, Remulla clarified that the posts were not meant to make light of the challenges faced by the public, but were instead intended to ease anxiety during difficult times.

“Siguro hindi nila ako naiintindihan. Pabiro talaga ako. Hindi ko naman minamaliit ang pinaghihirapan nila. Ang ginagawa ko lang, ang pagpapaalala ay ginawa kong mas magaan para hindi negative vibes lagi ang naririnig,” Remulla explained.

He emphasized that while he understands the importance of taking weather warnings seriously, his intention was to communicate important information in a more relatable and less distressing manner.

The statement comes after some netizens criticized the tone of the DILG's announcements, saying it was inappropriate given the serious effects of the bad weather on communities.
