The Basenji is a distinctive hound known for its sleek, athletic build, wrinkled forehead, and tightly curled tail. They have short, fine coats typically in red, black, brindle, or tricolor, often with white markings on the chest, feet, and tail tip. Basenjis are highly intelligent, independent, and energetic dogs with an almost cat-like fastidiousness.
Fun Fact:
Basenjis are often called the "barkless dog" because they don't bark in the traditional sense. Instead, they produce a unique sound described as a yodel, chortle, or "barroo." This sound is due to their unusually shaped larynx!
