'A SENATE OF MALACAÑANG, A SENATE OF THE PEOPLE’ — CAYETANO

Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano claimed that the country is now witnessing the existence of “two Senates” amid the ongoing leadership dispute in the chamber.

“There is now a Senate of Malacañang and a Senate of the Philippines,” Cayetano said, drawing a sharp distinction between what he described as a Palace-backed faction and those asserting the Senate’s independence.

The statement comes as tensions continue to escalate over competing claims to the Senate presidency and the legitimacy of recent actions taken by rival camps.
