Hangeul Day (한글날) is a Korean national holiday that commemorates the creation of the Korean alphabet by King Sejong in 1443 and its proclamation in 1446.

Celebrated every October 9, it honors the brilliance and accessibility of Hangeul, a script designed so that “even a wise man can learn it in a morning, and a foolish man in ten days.”

National Foundation Day (Gaecheonjeol, 개천절) is a national holiday marking the legendary founding of the first Korean kingdom, Gojoseon, by Dangun Wanggeom (단군왕검) in 2333 BCE.

“Gaecheon” means “opening of heaven,” while "jeol" means "commemorative day"

This day celebrates the birth of the Korean nation and its enduring spirit.
