WATCH-OUT | Germany’s Top Envoy Engages in Bilateral Talks at OVP

In June, the Office of the Vice President warmly welcomed His Excellency Dr. Andreas Michael Pfaffernoschke, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Philippines, for a courtesy call in Mandaluyong City.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Germany and the Philippines, particularly in the areas of economic cooperation and security, both seen as vital to sustainable development.

A key topic discussed was the contrast between the Philippine and European transport systems, with the Vice President expressing a strong desire for the Philippines to adopt a modernized transport infrastructure to help solve long-standing urban mobility issues.

The Vice President also extended an invitation to Ambassador Pfaffernoschke to visit Davao City, in line with deepening diplomatic and regional engagement.

The meeting reinforced mutual respect and a shared commitment to national progress, under the guiding principles of faith, patriotism, and service to Filipino families.

Davao First District Rep. Pulong Duterte slammed pronouncements of some fellow lawmakers that there are ghost infrastructure projects in Davao City, a claim which he said was meant to divert the attention of the public on the anomalies being uncovered in substandard or ghost flood projects nationwide under the current administration.

“If it is true that these are ghost projects, let us show it to the public. That is our money. That is the money of every Filipino. That is the money of the Davaoeno. Do not twist the story and pin it on our family just to cover your own dirt,” Rep. Duterte said.

“We are taxpayers, too. Not only Luzon, not only Metro Manila pays taxes. Our money is part of the same national budget. We deserve the truth about these so-called flood control projects that are not only happening in Luzon but in some other parts of the country as well,” he added.

Itinanggi ng Department of Finance (DOF) ang umano’y P28 billion na official development assistance (ODA) loan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at South Korea.

Kasunod ito ng pahayag ni South Korean Pres. Lee Jae Myung na umatras umano sila sa infrastructure loan dahil sa maanomalyang flood control projects sa Pilipinas.

“Nevertheless, we reaffirm to our bilateral partners that the Philippine government will match their trust and confidence with full transparency and accountability,” saad ng DOF.
