Many alumni of the Davao-based University of Mindanao (UM) are dominating this year's Licensure Exam for Teachers (LET).

The UM Tagum City branch has a 100% passing percentage for first-time takers in the elementary level (49 passed out of 49 takers) and an 88.40% passing rate for first-time takers in the secondary level (160 passed out of 181).

The UM announced in a statement that two of its alumni placed first on the license test for elementary and secondary teachers.

The first batch of Davao’s Durian, also known as “King of Fruits” was exported to China.

According to officials, the region's durian sector is set for expansion, and this month's first export to China is just the beginning.

“May this be the start of Davao durian being sold in China. The bottom line is better pricing of durian that would be enjoyed by farmers and result in better lives,” said Abel James Monteagudo, the head of the Department of Agriculture (DA) in the Davao Region.

One Davao-based company alone plans to ship 500 durian container trucks by 2023.

Durian in a Cacao? 🤔

“My first time harvesting this kind of fruit. Durian like cacao or cacao like durian?” Edmundo Cejar, a farmer in Sarangani province said as he shared his amazing harvesting experience.

Cejar said that his sister Helen, who runs a farm near Digos City, provided the seeds for this unusual cacao. It said that the seeds may be used to make chocolate, eaten fried, or added to soups.
