Overcharging NAIA taxi, firm face charges for 'colorum' fleet

MANILA, Philippines — The taxi driver caught on video charging a passenger at least P1,200 for a short ride from NAIA Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 may lose more than just his license. The entire taxi company he worked for now faces possible charges for operating illegally.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said that during the investigation into the viral incident, authorities discovered that the firm operating the taxi had been functioning under an expired provisional authority.

The driver was employed by Taxihub Transport, owned by a certain Paige Pauline Bersamina.

“Makakasuhang kayo ngayon. Kasi pinayagan niyong lumabas at mamasada ang isang taxi na wala na palang prangkisa,” Dizon said during a press briefing.
(You will now be charged. Because you allowed a taxi without a franchise to go out and ply the road.)

Dizon added that it wasn’t just the taxi in the viral video operating without a valid franchise—but the company’s entire fleet.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is set to issue a show cause order to Bersamina and may revoke the company’s right to operate.

Crackdown at NAIA ordered. Dizon also ordered a full crackdown on overcharging taxis at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

“I've asked LTFRB and LTO to coordinate with MIAA and the San Miguel Corporation, the NNIC (New NAIA Infra Corp) to catch them,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino.

Iran strikes back at Israel with missiles over Jerusalem, Tel Aviv

Israel's military said Iran fired fewer than 100 missiles and most were intercepted or fell short. The U.S. military helped shoot down Iranian missiles headed for Israel, two U.S. officials said.
Israel's Channel 12 said two people were critically injured, eight moderately and 34 slightly from shrapnel.
Several buildings were struck in the attack including an apartment block in a residential neighbourhood in Ramat Gan near Tel Aviv. Another building in central Tel Aviv was also struck, causing significant damage to multiple floors.
The Israeli strikes on Iran throughout the day and the Iranian retaliation raised fears of a broader regional conflagration, although Iran's allies Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon have been decimated by Israel.
Iran's state news agency IRNA said Tehran launched hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel after Israel blasted Iran's huge Natanz underground nuclear site and killed its top military commanders. Iran says its nuclear programme is only for peaceful purposes.
Israeli officials said it may be some time before the extent of damage at Natanz was clear. Western countries have long accused Iran of refining uranium there to levels suitable for a bomb rather than civilian use.
The above-ground pilot enrichment plant at Natanz has been destroyed, U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi told the Security Council on Friday. He said the U.N. was still gathering information about Israeli attacks on two other facilities, the Fordow fuel enrichment plant and at Isfahan.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused Israel of starting a war. A senior Iranian official said nowhere in Israel would be safe and revenge would be painful.
Iran's U.N. envoy Amir Saeid Iravani said 78 people, including senior military officials, were killed in Israel's strikes on Iran and more than 320 people were wounded, most of them civilians.
He accused the U.S. of being complicit in the attacks and said it shared full responsibility for the consequences.

Sexual assault is a serious issue that affects countless individuals, leaving deep emotional scars.

Memes might seem harmless, but they can perpetuate harmful attitudes. Instead of using social media to spread awareness and discourage sexual assault, "BanjiGam" did the opposite.

Your post will offend anyone and only scum of your level will agree with you.

What if someone who experienced sexual harassment saw this post? What will they feel about it? What if you open scars that most people hide between them or make people remember the things they're trying to forget just because of your post?

Heya!! It's Morpheus! It’s been 2 years since this page last saw any activity. Feels weird coming back here after so long.

Back in the pandemic days, this page was alive—it was a place to pass the time, connect, and just escape from everything happening in the world. Those were strange times, but in a way, they also brought us all closer.

Remember our districts? Our debates filled with talented people and judge.

Our daily trivia's and quizzes, members and readers we met along the way.

Now, life has moved on, and honestly, I’m not sure what the future holds for this page. With the rise of A.I I don't think daily trivia posts is enough to gain the traction we once had. I really don't know what to do...
