10 Critical Signs You Are Being Overworked
1. You have trouble disconnecting
When employees are overworked, they tend to feel like they must be “always on.” As a result, they are constantly on their laptops and cell phones checking email for fear of falling behind. If you have trouble disconnecting at the end of the day or on weekends, that could be a sign that you are overworked.
2. You are doing the work of multiple people
When colleagues are laid off or leave the company, many times, those positions aren't backfilled. Yet, projects still need to get done. That leaves you doing the work of two or three people, which can get exhausting.
3. You work overtime on a regular basis
Working overtime when special projects come up is not unusual. But you shouldn't need to work evenings and weekends regularly just to keep your head above water. When working overtime becomes a consistent part of your job, that’s a red flag.
4. You’ve lost your passion
Another sign that you’re overworked is losing passion for your job. It’s impossible to feel fulfilled by and excited about your career when you are working crazy hours all day, every day. If you dread going to work, that’s a sign you may be spending too much time there.
